Hi All, I'm unable to execute tvtime on my system: - fedora 31 (5.6.19-200 kernel), - saa7134 (v4l2 driver), card=65, tuner=54 -AMD/ATI RS480 (Radeon Xpress 200) IGP. tvtime prompts: tvtime requires hardware overlay support. I'm using radeon driver with llvmpipe as Mesa Renderer Device (glxinfo). Any ideas to solve this issue? Thanks. |

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'm neither maintaining nor interested in maintaing tvtime (I just fixed a bug in the package); the issue is already tracked in the Debian BTS at https://bugs.debian.org/653376 so I'm cc'ing this bug report now. Package: tvtime Tags: l10n patch Severity: wishlist Hello, Please, Could you update the Brazilian Portuguese Translation? Attached you will find the file pt_BR.po. It is UTF-8 encoded and it is tested with msgfmt and podebconf-display-po. Kind regards. |

Package: tvtime Version: 1.0.2-14 Severity: important User: deb...@li... Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-6 gcc-6-literal-suffixes This package fails to build with GCC 6. GCC 6 has not been released yet, but it's expected that GCC 6 will become the default compiler for stretch. Note that only the first error is reported; there might be more. You can find a snapshot of GCC 6 in experimental. To build with GCC 6, you can set CC=gcc-6 CXX=g++-6 explicitly. Package: tvtime Version: 1.0.2-13 Severity: serious Justification: blocks another serious bug According to the package description of perl-modules, other packages should not depend on it, since it is considered an internal implementation detail of the perl package. At present we are dealing with an RC bug[1] in perl which is exacerbated by such dependencies. As such, please could you replace Depends: perl-modules with Depends: perl NMUs will be forthcoming; feel free to let me know whether you prefer to handle this as a maintainer upload or not. Thanks, Dominic. [1] <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=777597#32> |

The attached version of debian/patches/home.diff fixes the segfaults on amd64. As Aurelien suggests, someone probably should tackle the real underlying issues with $HOME, but this at least fixes the immediate issue. Chris -- Chris Lawrence <law...@de...> - http://blog.lordsutch.com/ |

It does fix the problem to tvtime-configure. That said there are other binaries affected using exactly the same code, namely tvtime-scanner.c, tvtime-command.c and tvtime.c. Anyway the right fix is probably to remove debian/patches/home.diff and really fix the real issues instead of avoiding them to be triggered in a broken way. -- Aurelien Jarno GPG: 1024D/F1BCDB73 aur...@au... http://www.aurel32.net |

Hi grigore calugar, This bug was reported for 1.0.2-10. Is that the version you were using when reproducing the problem ? Regards, Bart Martens |

This seems to be the problem: If env HOME unset(not empty), getenv("HOME") return NULL pointer and then causes strncpy() error. |

Package: tvtime Version: 1.0.2-10 Severity: normal User: tri...@gm... Analysis of code in file station.c at: line 365 strncpy( mgr->stationrc, getenv( "HOME" ), 235 ); line 366 strncat( mgr->stationrc, "/.tvtime/stationlist.xml", 255 ); and: line 1033 strncpy( filename, getenv( "HOME" ), 235 ); line 1034 strncat( filename, "/.tvtime/stationlist.xml", 255 ); The call to strncpy() does not use sizeof(filename) for the size, but rather an arbitrarily small number. It isn't the end of the world, but there's no guarantee that the last 20 bytes of the variable are zero bytes (or even that any of them is a zero byte), in general. Under some circumstances (filename is a global variable, previously unused) the zeros might be guaranteed. The strncat() call tries to append 24 characters to the end of the srting in filename that might already be 232-234 bytes long, or that might be arbitrarily longer than 235 bytes. Either way, that is a guaranteed buffer overflow. The usage of strncat() also falls directly into the trap about its size. You've said that it is OK to add up to 255 characters beyond the end of what's already in filename, which is blatantly wrong (unless the string from getenv("HOME") happens to be empty). Package: tvtime Version: 1.0.2-10 Severity: serious User: deb...@li... Usertags: piuparts Hi, a test with piuparts revealed that your package uses files from /usr/share/doc in its maintainer scripts which is a violation of Policy 12.3: "Packages must not require the existence of any files in /usr/share/doc/ in order to function." http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s12.3 These files must be moved to /usr/share/$PACKAGE and may be symlinked from /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE. This piuparts tests prevents the installation of (most) files into /usr/share/doc with 'dpkg --path-exclude=...'. >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): Selecting previously unselected package tvtime.
