TORCS, The Open Racing Car Simulator is car racing simulation. It is used as ordinary car racing game, as AI racing game, for industial applications and as research platform. It runs on Linux (x86, AMD64 and PPC), FreeBSD, OpenSolaris, MacOSX and Windows.
The most important changes are improvements in the simulation code for extreme banking and slopes, the addition of a tire wear/temperature model, improved z collision response (matters for jumps), a brand new track and various little adjustments. The TRB can now automatically generate the racemanager configuration file, and adds random number seeds for later use.... read more

There is a new test release available for download. The source package compiles on Linux, Windows (vc++ 6.0) and FreeBSD. For Windows users there is a binary only installer available. You find the installation instructions for the source package in the README file, a common mistake is to forget "make datainstall".
For optimal sound quality in Linux you need a modified version of OpenAL (we hope to bring the changes into OpenAL itself, but this will take time), which you can find in the Files section on our project page. There is as well an updated FAQ in the doc directory of the package in case you run into trouble. Bye, have fun,... read more

- New track.
- New and updated opponents.
- New Open wheel car.
- Nicer smoke and improved skid marks.
- Option to disable sound and alternate OpenGL init.
- Lots of small improvements.
- Bugfixes.
Visit www.torcs.org for details.
This is a new test release, the major changes against test2 are that it compiles now on Windows and the smaller size, have a look at the changelog for details. For the windows users there is a binary available. It would be nice if people could retest bugs and try out different combinations of libraries (FreeGLUT, GLUT) and configure switches. Interesting would be as well if TORCS now compiles and runs on 64 bit platforms (AMD64) and still works on PPC. Have fun,
Bernhard.
