Anyone know remedies? My TexnicCenter stopped working from one day to another. Crashing when attempting to open or save files.

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #1632

Same for me. The hint of disabling controlled file access in Windows Defender did not work (I have posted the results in the other thread as well).

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #1509

Controlled Folder Access has been off on my machine. TeXnicCenter 2. 02 still crashing on almost every save on my Windows 10 home machine. Looks like nobody is able to address this issue. I also tried to switch Controlled Folder Access on and added permissions for TeXnicCenter, but this did not help as well.

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #1626

Yes, I noticed this as well and it relates to the DDS server Acrobat uses. Since they enjoy changing it at least once I year I have to manually change it myself then as well, and its now very straight forward to find what server name to use. However, I believe this is an issue that lies with Adobe, and not TeXnic and I think the best way so solve this would be to simply find a better reader than Adobe. One that supports DDS or command line arguments and doesnt change them every darn year.

TexnicCenter does not connect to acrobat reader pdf. This problem has occurred many times before, usually corrected by changing the name of acroview in the viewer. This problem is becoming very tiresome

To all who hate this bug as much as I did: Here is a solution/workaround: https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/49705/texniccenter-multiple-tabs-in-one-window-instead-of-multiple-instances-multipl/576089#576089

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #1431

Yes, this is so EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I am considering changing the editor because of this bug, please FIX it! I am using Windows 10, fully patched (23.12.2020), and TEXnicCenter 2.02 Stable 64 Bit -- and as said: When ever I open a new tex file it incorrectly opens a new instance instead of a new tab.

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #1220

I noticed the crashing correlates with the presence of Adobe's Creative Cloud bloatware processes in the background in my case. With them killed (all ~10 or so) and boom saving works again without administrator privileges and without crashing. Windows 10 20H2 here, texcniccenter 2.02 stable. I guess I'll create a batch file to run photoshop and others and kill all CC crap afterwards, I don't use their sync anyways.

I was able to solve the issue following the suggestion given in another similar ticket: https://sourceforge.net/p/texniccenter/user-reports/1402/#18d6 You need to disable a windows setting to Show recently opened items in Jump lists, see attached screenshot. After disabling it, all operations with projects I tried were fine. Interestingly, you can re-enable immediately afterwards the setting, and existing projects are still working well. Only if you create a new project the the program keeps crashing...

I am experiencing the same problem as of 2019 with Windows 10 (Pro 10.018363) + Texniccenter (TC, 2.02 stable) + updated Miktex 2.9. Both 32 bit and 64 bit TC versions display the same behaviour. I do not encounter any other anomalies, except the sudden crash of TC when a project is open in any way (loading one from the program, open the program double clicking on a project, create a new project, create a project from active file). Description: File > New > Project: the program shuts down. Description:...

Exact same problem over here. It's not the Miktex. LatexCenter even when not doing anything is hogging major system resources all by itself, happened with the Windows Fall Creators Update (1709). Using a Lenovo X1 Thinkpad.

The same problem here. It is unrelated to the project itself since TeXnicCenter will crash if I save any change to a brand new project. The problem appeared over night, I did not modify anything concering LaTeX or TeXniccenter. It's not really a crash, but opening, saving and "analyzing project structure" takes several minutes, even with little projects
