Activity for Create Synchronicity - Backup & Sync

  • Michel Rouzic Michel Rouzic posted a comment on ticket #31

It's disappointing that this problem isn't dealt with because the files that Create Synchronicity refuses to copy are easily copied to their destination using Windows Explorer. That means I have to find a new backup tool that does things correctly.

Bonjour Clément, Thanks for your reply, and sorry for the delay. These are my current exceptions: /.*lrdata;".Spotlight-V100";".Trashes";".TemporaryItems";".fseventsd";".Spotlight-V100" I tried just: .Spotlight-V100 And ".Spotlight-V100" And still got this: [Uma imagem com captura de ecrã, monitor, computador, ecrã Descrição gerada automaticamente] Actually, I think I can't make an exception of anything that begins with a period character "." I tried a bunch of other ways as well, to no avail. I...

  • Clément Pit-Claudel Clément Pit-Claudel posted a comment on ticket #85

The second one looks surprising. For the first one, does it help if you include a slash before the pattern? For the specific string part, I'd use a regular expression too. See http://synchronicity.sourceforge.net/help.html#file-regex , though the explanation is more geared towards file exclusion.

  • Clément Pit-Claudel Clément Pit-Claudel posted a comment on ticket #84

I don't this you need the extra * after the \$. Accepting the simpler format would be an improvement, but unfortunately I don't have time to work on it at the moment.

  • Klaus Klaus posted a comment on ticket #84

Yes, it worked. But the string was as follow /^~\$*.*/ !!! This format is not intuitive to the people that do not work with programming, so I suggest to accept the easier format ~$*.* for the general user.

  • Clément Pit-Claudel Clément Pit-Claudel posted a comment on ticket #84

    Please try /^~\$.*/

  • Klaus Klaus posted a comment on ticket #84

I have tried the following strings: ~$*.* and /^~\$*..*/ because the file have the filename as ~$xxxxxxxxetcxxx.yyy. Both have not worked.

Thanks. Installing a manual with the app could be useful, but I think there's a link to the manual in the about page, correct? Most of these setting are supposed to be expert only, and I'd like experts to have read the manual, so not adding a visible option is on purpose. Same for the hidden options. Further things missing: - there is no offline manual installed together with the app, not even a link to the manual on the website (I would prefer offline one) - a menu with available global Settings - the Expert mode should be added to the menu, so user could enable it by mouse click - make all global (mainconfig.ini) and contextual (*.sync) options available from the GUI

Have you checked the following section of the manual? Updating folder attributes In version 6.0+, Create Synchronicity never updates a directory's "last modified" date (although it does set it upon creation). You can force automatic propagation of directories "last modified" dates by adding Sync folder attributes:True to the corresponding profilename.sync file. This setting isn't enabled by default mostly because some network drives do not apply directory attributes correctly: on these drives, enabling...

There's two helpful settings for this problem: Text-only logs (v5.2+) Should you prefer your logs to be saved as text instead of html, append Text logs:True; to your main configuration file. Specifying how many log entries should be archived (v5.2+) The default in Create Synchronicity is to keep 7 entries in the log files. You can customize this behaviour by appending Archived log entries:n; in your main configuration file. Do these help?

I was wondering about an option to ignore 'System Files & Folders' and it has already been raised. Although I am interesting in preventing attempts to delete 'System Volume Information'. Right now I am using the profile "hack" to specify target folders to match source folders, but this procedure seems less elegant than I would have preferred.

Can you share a copy of your config file? I'm not sure what might cause this, though. Is it reproducible? (as in, is it always the same stick that causes issues?)
