Change of Ownership - stplugin Project

Dear stplugin users,

My personal involvement and ownership of the SourceForge Sametime plug-in (stplugin) project will end on Tuesday, 22 Feb 05.

As many of you may know, IBM offers a Sametime plug-in for Trillian on the IBM alphaWorks (http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/stplugin4trillian) site. While current versions of the alphaWorks plug-in and my SourceForge plug-in currently have different capabilities, we share a common goal, which is to improve the Sametime user experience and provide productivity enhancements for Sametime users.

Some of you may know, or have suspected, that I work for IBM. When I first became aware that IBM was working on a Sametime plug-in for Trillian, I inquired about combining our efforts. It was not feasible at that time, however, I have now reached agreement with the alphaWorks team and will participate in the development of the alphaWorks plug-in, effectively removing myself from the development of the SourceForge version of the plug-in.

Since all of the source code written for the SourceForge Sametime plug-in is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), the stplugin project will remain on SourceForge, however, I will be removed as the project administrator on 22 Feb 05 and will no longer participate in the development or support of the SourceForge plug-in.

Anand Sankaralingam has volunteered to become the project administrator for the stplugin project, preventing the project from becoming an "orphaned" project. If you are interested in assisting with the development or support of stplugin, please contact Anand to discuss how you may contribute to the continued success of the stplugin project.

I have enjoyed my time spent working on the SourceForge project and would like to thank all of you for the encouragement and praise offered over the last year or so. If I have one regret, it's that I didn't get to complete all of the features I had planned for stplugin.

I look forward to working on the alphaWorks plug-in and wish continued success for the SourceForge Sametime plug-in project.
