No

SameTime allows multi-party chats, but the plugin
doesn't support them. Worst of all, if someone tries to
add you to one, it just ignores the request all together
with no message to either to sender or recipient.

    FYI, I purchased trillian so I could use the sametime plugin. I
    wanted a client that I could extend through plug-ins.

    They work great together to get most of the features I
    need. There is one feature that keeps me from using it all the
    time and/or recommending it to others. The missing feature is
    the ability to have a group discussion. I am not looking to
    use all the collaboration features (whiteboard, app sharing,
    etc.) just the chat features. We use the group chat features
    extensively where I work.

    The implementation of that portion would make it a tool that I
    could use all the time.

    I'm on the same boat. Having the group chap capability is the
    only feature that prevents me from using the stplugin full
    time. Multi-party chats are used extensively, and as
    mentioned in the feature request summary, stplugin just
    ignores incoming group-chat requests so I don't even realize
    I'm being invited to a group chat.

    Thanks for a great product! This is the one feature I'm
    really missing now. I currently have to bring up the
    sametime client at the same time as trillian to be able to
    do group chats. That's annoying for 2 reasons: 1) i dont
    get the auto-logging feature of trillian 2) any new
    messages come through the sametime client instead of
    trillian (unless i have a chat window open in trillian with
    the person who's sending me a message)

    I agree. In my company we have a lot of online meetings. Do
    we know we this will be added?

    Yes, this is a basic feature and a show-stopper for completely
    moving to Trillian+STplugin. I'm really looking forward for this
    capability.

    I agree - this is a show-stopper to using an otherwise great
    plug-in.

    I would also like to chime in on this RFE and state that I
    am probably going to have to go back to the less stable
    native Sametime application in order to get this
    functionality back as teammates will occassionally need to
    invite me to a chat for a group discussion on a technical issue.

    I had a ticket opened for this same thing. I have closed it
    and will add my 2 cents here. This is the only thing that I
    need more in this plugin. This plugin is great.

    Hi, just wanted to provide everyone monitoring this RFE that
    I've *finally* started work on the multi-user chat feature.
    I have some vacation time over the x-mas holiday's, so I
    hope to be able to use some of that time to get this
    implemented.

    As you may have guessed, I don't personally use multi-person
    chat often... :) I understand, however, that this is heavily
    used by some people and I will work towards a solution to
    ease your pain and suffering... :)

    Regards,

    jthomps

    This plugin is excellent! Much better than the one that IBM
    has started offering.

    PLEASE enable multi-person chat sessions! This is an
    extremely important feature. Thanks

    A suggestion of a first step. If there is some way that you
    could at least let the user know someone tried to contact
    you via the multi-user conversation functionality so that we
    can then either jump on real sametime client or let the
    person know that you cannot join via unicast would be great.

    Not sure what is involved to just pop up a little window to
    say "User X requested chat", but not giving the option to join..

    Just a thought. I know I have missed a number of chats
    because I never knew they even came in...

    I really need this, too! My new group here at IBM loves to
    do multi-person chat. I hate to have to use NotesBuddy.

    Hello,

    I first want to congratulate : Sametime pluggin IS the
    reason for which I bought Trillian pro after several years
    of Trillian basic version...

    And now I see the chat feature seems to be under
    development, but nothing new since february ?

    Thanks for the update.
    Jerome

    Jerome_cadet,

    Yeah, well basically the main developer left this project
    and switched to the alphaworks sametime plugin. It supports
    multi-user chat. Check it out:

    Ok so I suffered a little bit with IBM account creation (but
    after all it's not worse than a MS account ;-) ) but finally
    installed that other pluggin that works quite well.

    But of course all my previous Sametime contact were not
    recognised so I had to delete all and import again - but that
    pluggin is able to import directly from the server account,
    cool.

    And of course the history of existing contact is not
    recognised neither, I played a little bit and if you replace
    history file (xml) name + content reference for all entries (ID of
    the contact) with the new one inside the file, history tool finds
    it again. But it's a pain and I won't do it for all...

    Anyway thanks for the tip, I guess this project should be
    closed here, no ?

    Well, i used cygwin and a little renaming script (it seems
    that the IBM version prepends the server name to the history
    files) to rename the history files, or you can do a little
    bsh script to copy the files:

    #!/bin/bash
    for filename in *.log
    do
    cp "$filename" TTST01.verizon.com"$filename"
    done

    Perl rename script (i found this on some website):

    #!/usr/bin/perl
    #
    # Usage: rename perlexpr [files]

    ($regexp = shift @ARGV) || die "Usage: rename perlexpr
    [filenames]\n";

    if (!@ARGV) {
    @ARGV = <STDIN>;
    chomp(@ARGV);
    }

    foreach $_ (@ARGV) {
    $old_name = $_;
    eval $regexp;
    die $@ if $@;
    rename($old_name, $_) unless $old_name eq $_;
    }

    exit(0);

    I've used them both and they both work. This one might
    should be closed, or have a pointer to the alphaworks
    version anyway.
