#122 resolve a contact never resolves

adding a contact fails because the step to resolve the supplied username never returns. this fails even when the desired contact is a known sametime user because they are accessible through other clients. behavior is that the add process is normal - when the resolve is pressed it behaves as if it was trying but it never returns, there is no error message. existing contacts work fine but were imported through editing the buddies.xml file in a mass update.
