I've been using Spreadsheet Compare in Excel 2010 for several weeks now and it's working beautifully - just the tool I needed.
BUT in the last couple of days, every time I open Excel, as it's loading I get a popup from the Spreadsheet Compare updater saying 'Unable to determine if an update is available'. I close the popup and Excel and Spreadsheet Compare still work with no other problems.
I found another post here that suggested running Update Program.exe and changing the number of days between update checks. But when I run that, I get the same popup - which stops me from changing the day interval, because when I close the popup, the whole update program closes as well and I'm unable to modify the 'check for updates every' box.
For the time being I've renamed Update Program.exe as a workaround, so the updater doesn't load and I don't get the popup.
But it'd be great to have a fix for the issue so I can re-enable the update checking.
I should possibly also add that I'm not a tech expert by any means - and have registered on SourceForge in order to post this question. So my apologies but if there is a suggestion for a fix I'll need it spelled out in relatively simple terms. :)
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers
Sue
Renamed "Update Program.exe" so it does not run.
It appears the site, thefoolonthehill.net, has had
its' DRUPAL updated and lost, connection to or. all
site information.
Great add-on. Same problem
Should be working again now. I had deleted some of the update files on my site.

Brilliant .. thanks Steve! No popup now, which is great, and running Update Program.exe works so I'm able to change the number of days between checks if I want to.
I'm assuming you're currently doing more work on your site because, as the other poster here mentioned re Drupal, there is no content when I go to thefoolonthehill.net ... and when the Spreadsheet Updater runs, the message that comes up in the result window says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled".
However that's no doubt just a temporary issue and will be fixed you've finished updating your site. :)
Thanks again for the fast response.
Cheers
