Removal of drift mainly image skew could be achieved from FFT providing image is large enough and has suitable features. For periodic surface features the FFT could be matched against known crystallographic tables.
Piezo creep, generally more difficult but ‘points of interest’ can be identified and mapped to successive images to identify regions where the image has skewed and the traverse of the tip is nonlinear.
