MelonType(TM) doesn't look good on CRT screens and there's no alternative settings available in Snarl. Fix required: add options to have (a) no font smoothing, (b) Windows font smoothing, (c) ClearType(TM) or (d) MelonType(TM) to Snarl Preferences panel.

Added option for Snarl to use either: (a) MelonType, (b) No font smoothing, (c) Anti-aliasing, (d) ClearType, or (e) the current Windows setting. This will appear in the next release of Snarl. Note that it is down to the individual style engine to support this setting; it is *not* something that can be globally enforced. All the built-in style engines have been modified to use it where appropriate.
