Public beta 0.62 is now out. It introduces support for Waveform audio files (*.wav) and MPEG audio files (*.mp1, *.mp2, *.mp3). It also fixes several bugs with playback.

I have finally enough time to concenrate to making SmoothPlayer. This version fixes some bugs with DirectDraw and the player should be once again more stable.

Smooth Player public beta 0.60 has finally been released. It introduces support for MPEG video files. Also error handling has been improved. Now you should have error message saying what's wrong.

Well, holidays are over and I have already started to work with Smooth Player. I am working hard with MPEG support. There will be some major modifications to player framework.

I will recruit new members to project. I am especially looking for GUI developer(s) to create new GUI for the player. I'll post help wanted ads later on. If you think you can call, post message to open discussion forum.

I am on holiday for next two weeks and do not have access to computer at that time. Skiing in North-Finland. :) I will be back next year and continue the hard work with Smooth Player. Thanks for everyone for this year.

Public beta 0.57 is now officially released. I have added configuration dialog to play with. I have also fixed couple of bugs in video overlay.

Public beta 0.56 is now released.

Changes:
Support for subtitles in SupRip format is added.
Bugs with variable bitrate audio formats are fixed. Audio buffer underrun bug is fixed.

I have found the cause for jerks in video playback. With some files audio buffer underruns occured once in ten seconds. At the same time CPU usage was near 40 percent on my testing machine. Clearly audio stream didn't pass enough data to playback. This problem is now fixed and you should be able to enjoy the smooth playback.

Public beta 0.55 is now officially released. Improments include new seeker control, new GUI-system and the last but not the least several major bug fixes. The player is now approaching more stable and mature version. Enjoy!

The next version will be released when all problems with the current developement version has been solved. This is just to ensure the smooth operation of public release.

Smooth Player Public beta 0.52 is now officially released. Biggest change visible to end user is speed increase (upto 125% on some systems) due now optimized DirectDraw acceleration. Some other speed optimizations are also done. All these optimizations bring Smooth Player close to speed it should be; Faster than any other.

Download section of project website is now updated to reflect correctly the latest version of software.

Smooth Player Public beta 0.51 is now officially released. It offers slight speed increase with MMX equiped CPUs. It also includes some bug fixes with video playback.

Website news are now updating automagically every hour. It should make easier the project maintenance.

Well, now we have GUI developer team. I'll close open position to get the work started with you two, before recruiting more people.

GUI developer position is still open. Help is always wanted and, if we hear from any enthusiastic developer who wants to join, I not against it.

Web designer position is now filled. The choise was difficult as it always is.

Project is looking for developers and a web designer to help with project. For more information about open positions see link in the summary page.

After some difficulities with CVS I made my first file release. Public beta 0.5 is now ready for download.
