Small Linux from Network is a small Linux distro loaded from a network connection. The user downloads a boot floppy that loads the OS image from an HTTP server. The 0.0.1 version is the first official version of the project.
The OS image contains BusyBox, SSH (client and server) and some tools (cfdisk, sfdisk and reiserfs-tools). The /dev directory is managed by udev and there is hotplug support.... read more
A few weeks ago, I've decided to reopen my SF.net project under a new name. The Gentoo Linux Boot Floppy became Small Linux from Network. I stopped the project two years ago because I had a problem during the development and didn't ask for help. I am now starting over with new tools. The 0.0.1 version of my project will be released with more details in a few hours or a few days, depending on the time it will take me to make SSH work with BusyBox.... read more
Thins new version will be released in the next days. I will build a new kernel (2.4.24) with genkernel then busybox will be updated. There is a major bur with the kernel (will not work on some older computer), so if you have problems please make a bug report.
Please note down that pre-alpha versions are for testing only.
GLBF PDR-4 is out! With more network devices kernel modules and updated kernel and BusyBox, you could be able to install Gentoo Linux without any problem but it's still very complicated compared to a LiveCD...
The Gentoo Linux Boot Floppy will be now used to install a minimal system on your Gentoo partition and make a bootdisk.
GLBF is too minimal and is not able to install Gentoo Linux using the official manual. So I will try this solution or GLBF will never be useful.
Next version will have a new kernel and ext2/3FS tools. After that, ReiserFS tools will be added.
GLBF vPDR-2 is out! It contains a new initrd. The kernel is the same as the one in PDR-1.
There will be a 2.6.0-testx kernel in PDR-3 if the kernel image is not too large.
The release name ("PR-1" or "Preview release 1") were changed for "PDR-1" or "Preview and Developer release 1". Thank you for your support!
You can now download the floppy image of GLBF. The floppy image has SYSLINUX, the Linux Kernel v2.4.21, BusyBox. Please see "Bugs" on the project page.
A first release will be available in the next days. You will be able to download preview versions in the next hours. Please note down that the previews will NOT work, they will be very incomplete.
