SkyypReader / News: Recent posts

A user was nice enough to bring up the fact that the main method was missing. The 0.1Beta release was packaged and posted a little to hastefully. The problem has now been fixed in the 0.1a_Beta release. The 0.1 release will be thouroughly tested and should be out by the end of the year.

I just put windows back on my laptop. I had previously done all testing and development in Linux. As I expected the program threw and exception. In the next release it will be tested and run on Windows.

I have gotten side tracked a bit from Skyypreader but I am going to make at least 1 more release so I can get the work that I have done out there. The next release should have:
-A better user interface (still command line)
-Support modifying callmember256.dbb. This feature will have a very simple interface.
-The unit tests will be in the repo.

This release "0.2Beta" should be out by the 1st of the year. After that I will probably stop development for awhile.

I'm still getting some work in. Hopefully a new release will be out soon.

I'm a little busy working on some other tasks right now but there is more functionality coming soon. I believe I will make another small beta release with the functionality to edit callmember256.dbb in the near future.

I realize that being able to access history information without the account password could allow for other people to view your history without your permission. For this reason I have decided to add functionality to modify a skype log file. This will at least offset a little bit the security issue.

A build file has been added to the repository as well as the dependency jars. The build file still does not contain functionality for the junit tests as I have still not created a dummy callmember256.dbb file. Also, compile is the default target so to create the runnable distribution you will need to specify the "dist" target.

After being out of the country for a week. Development is about to start again on SkyypReader. I'm really contemplating using Groovy to continue implementation.

I just got approved for this project today. I have already wrote a parser for the callmember256.dbb file which logs all calls to your Skype contacts. I'll get that up as soon as possible.

The overall goal for this project is to make a usable program that allows any Skype user to convert there log files to human readable files. To start I will just have them print normally to files but maybe in the future they will be printed as XML as well.... read more
