The next release effort is currently under way at Project SimpleAIM. Many big changes are planned for this next big release! There will be many changes to the code, along with the heirarchy and structure of organization. Overall, our goal is to make SimpleAIM more developer-friendly, while adding new features to enhance the end-user experience. In the mean time, we would greatly appreciate it if any feature requests you have or bugs you have run into can be reported as soon as possible, so we can coordinate our efforts and incorporate these changes. Several bugs were fixed. Including a bug that caused long FLAP packets from the TOC server to be dropped, and a bug resulting from decoding certain HTML characters.

SimpleAIM, a miniature console AIM client written purely in Java has been released. Currently the source is available for download at https://sourceforge.net/projects/simpleaim/
It provides a great framework for understanding the TOC protocol used in many AIM clients, and helps the beginning developer in producing his or her own IM clients and bots.
Written in Java, SimpleAIM allows for platform-independent flexibility, and enables users to logon to AIM via shell accounts.
