When you have connected more keyboards to computer (laptop with external USB keyboard or using for example Synergy) Then if you typing at one keyboard, it's OK... but if you press key at other one, then that input freezes.. and you can't type anything until you leave and return back to that "freezed" window... Steps to reproduce *) Connect more keyboards 1) open random editor (konsole for example) 2) start type on 1st one 3) start type on 2nd one --> it would produce freeze and you can't type 4) click out of konsole to lost focus (for example to desktop) 5) click back,, --> you can type now again,, until you will press key on other keyboard.. Using SCIM with Anthy Using it under LXDE windows manager Using Gentoo Linux System X.Org X Server 1.10.4 Anyway under version 1.4.9 it works fine without this issue, maybe that information could helps too.. Category: Build config Group: 1.4.x Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: OBATA Akio (obache) Assigned to: Tz-Huan Huang (tzhuan) Summary: Can't build on NetBSD 4.0 Initial Comment: On NetBSD 4.0, failed to build scim-1.4.7. scim_chartraits.cpp:44: error: no member function 'assign' declared in 'std::char_traits<unsigned int>' scim_chartraits.cpp:44: error: invalid function declaration (and same errors)... NetBSD 4.0 is not __STDC_ISO_10646__ and GCC 4.1.2. (NetBSD 3 is gcc 3.3.3, build fine) How to fix this problem? It seems that following code in scim_types.h.in avoid this error on FreeBSD. #ifdef __FreeBSD__ # include <osreldate.h> # if __FreeBSD_version > 500035 # define __STDC_ISO_10646__ # endif #endif This is not reflect reality. Probably, it is originally here: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=69777 It does not means that FreeBSD 5 is __STDC_ISO_10649, but just workaround of build failor with GCC>=3.4. At least, C++ Library in GCC4.1.2 have __gnu_cxx::char_traits, it accept none-class, accept uint32. Are there any test case to confirm the function? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Tz-Huan Huang (tzhuan) Date: 2012-09-22 06:50 Message: Obata Akio, thanks very much for your report. I pushed a new commit, could you please get the latest source from https://github.com/scim-im/scim and try it again? I can compile the core part (./configure --disable-gtk2-immodule --disable-gtk3-immodule --disable-qt3-immodule --disable-qt4-immodule --diable-panel-gtk --disable-setup-ui) without any patches in my NetBSD VM (i386 5.1.2 with pkgsrc-2012Q2), but I cannot test gtk part because I cannot build libXext, which is required by gtk/gdk. I tested it on NetBSD only. If you find that it breaks on other platform, please tell me. I'll try to fix it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: OBATA Akio (obache) Date: 2012-09-22 02:05 Message: still same errors even with NetBSD-5.1.2. Please try to build without __STDC_ISO_10646__ knob, and you can reproduce this issue, current SCIM is for only wchar_t == UCS4 platforms . And our patches are not for NetBSD/gcc (platform) specific , using standard way, because pkgsrc is used with various platforms/compilers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Rolf (leggewie) Date: 2012-09-21 12:51 Message: Thanks, Tz-Huan. Obache-San, can you please verify if this problem is still relevant in the latest version of NetBSD? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Tz-Huan Huang (tzhuan) Date: 2012-09-21 10:41 Message: I have scanned all patches from NetBSD (http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/current/pkgsrc/inputmethod/scim/patches/) and picked up those which are relevant I think. However, I decide not to include this one because of two reasons: 1. NetBSD is 5.1.2 now, I think the default version of gcc in NetBSD-5 should have no such problem; 2. I want to let scim confirm the standard (both in language such as C and C++, and platform such as POSIX), so in general I don't plan to include patches for specific compiler/platform if there is no good reason. If NetBSD still have this problem, I'll try to find a portable way to work for (almost) all platform. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Rolf (leggewie) Date: 2012-09-19 04:17 Message: Tz-Huan, maybe you can review these patches? Initial Comment: Hello. I'm dvorak layout user on GNOME. And I'm using SCIM to type East Asian languages. In default setting, SCIM doesn't works rightly on dvorak layout. To use SCIM on dvorak layout, I should open 'SCIM Input Method Setup' window, and change Keybroad layout setting to Dvorak. So it works on GNOME programme, but it still doesn't work on KDE programme. I'm just tested with Korean language. So I'm not sure other keyboard layout on SCIM also has this problem. Category: Core: libscim Group: 1.4.x Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: akb825 (akb825) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Segfault when loading SCIM module in some applications Initial Comment: There are a couple of applications that encounter a segfault when loading a SCIM module immediately on startup. The original application I have been having problems with is bsnes. (http://byuu.org/bsnes/) When trying to find a similar application (using the same underlying libraries) that exhibits this behavior I discovered hedgewars (http://www.hedgewars.org/) which also segfaults in the same way. To reproduce, simply install either application and attempt to launch it. I am running Debian Testing with GNOME, which has SCIM version 1.4.9-3. The SCIM packages I have installed are scim scim-anthy, scim-bridge-agent, scim-bridge-client-gtk, scim-gtk2-immodule, scim-qtimm, and scim-uim. I am using US English as my system language, and the keyboard layout is set to US English. Removing SCIM resolves the segfault. Both bsnes and hedgewars use QT4. Other QT applications run fine, but one similarity between these two applications is that they also use SDL. Since both QT and SDL provide input functionality, I'm wondering if those are somehow conflicting when SCIM is initialized. I am currently using the default GTK theme for QT, which routes all of its UI elements through GTK. You can specify different themes, which aren't GTK based, for each application with the "-style" command line argument, such as "-style motif". Passing the "-style motif" command line argument works around the issue and prevents the segfault in both bsnes and hedgewars. I have looked through the source code for bsnes, and immediately after main it creates a QApplication instance to initialize QT, where it then crashes, so it doesn't appear to be doing anything abnormal during initialization. Here is a stack backtrace for the segfault when attempting to launch bsnes: #0 0x00007fffe4a14843 in ?? () from /usr/lib/libltdl.so.7 #1 0x00007fffe4a15248 in ?? I tried version 1.4.5 and 1.4.7, same result for both. I'm using Gentoo linux with kernel 2.6.23, XFCE 4.4, Xorg 1.4 on a unicode system (x86 arch). Attached are the command line outputs of three different attempts to start SCIM with different arguments. Each time SCIM segfault it leaves an entry in the log of the following schema: [kernel] scim-launcher[some id]: segfault an <some address> eip <some address> esp <some address> error 4 The id and the addresses differ between runs. I know this is not too much information, but I don't know how to gather additional information. Any idea how to approach this problem? Villa Real (lucasvr) Date: 2008-01-26 04:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=649659 Originator: NO While preparing and testing a package for Scim, I've got segfaults when launching scim-setup all the times. It turns out that I had a broken libtool archive that was being scanned by trim() -- a variable assignment in anthy.la had a single starting quote, but didn't have a closing one (as in "dependency_libs='foo bar "). In that case, the variable 'end' was always pointing to the first (and only) quote in the start of the string, and then "(end-str)-1" resulted in a negative value (and since size_t is unsigned, the copy was actually performed way after the end of the string's boundaries). The attached patch fixes that, by ignoring the balancing error and simply parsing the string from the first quote until its end ('\0') in those cases. Please consider applying it. Kind regards, and thanks for all your work on Scim! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=650539&aid=1837071&group_id=108454 |

Category: FrontEnd: QT IMModule Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Denis Dzyubenko (shad_s) Assigned to: LiuCougar (liuspider) Summary: Compose key doesn't work with scim-bridge-qt4 Initial Comment: When using scim-bridge-qt4 immodule I can't use Compose key to type special characters like euro-sign or letters like ø, ó, á (which are typed by pressing Compose key and / and then o, for example). It works fine with gtk-im-module in gtk applications: This works: XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM" GTK_IM_MODULE="scim-bridge" QT_IM_MODULE="scim-bridge" gedit However with qt immodule this doesn't work: XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM" GTK_IM_MODULE="scim-bridge" QT_IM_MODULE="scim-bridge" ./demos/textedit/textedit (the immodule itself works - I can trigger a panel and type for example canna). I am using Qt 4.5.0 and scim-bridge-qt4 0.4.14 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Tz-Huan Huang (tzhuan) Date: 2012-09-19 04:21 Message: The current implementation of scim-bridge masks some compose keys. We are working on this and try to fix it in the next release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=650539&aid=2682790&group_id=108454 |

This means a Windows user who is used to strike "ctrl+shift" together quickly will likely to experience "lag"s. It would be better if such a sequence can be supported. Also, it seems I can't customize the key sequence in this way in the config window. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Tz-Huan Huang (tzhuan) Date: 2012-09-19 04:19 Message: The Tracker is changed to "Feature Requests." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Wei Mingzhi (whistler_wmz) Date: 2009-12-20 18:43 Message: well, currently SCIM's key sequence of switching IMEs only works in this way: Press Ctrl -> Press Shift -> Release Shift -> Release Ctrl and pressing in this way will not work: Press Ctrl -> Press Shift -> Release Ctrl -> Release Shift however, some Windows users tends to "strike" Ctrl and Shift keys together to switch IMEs, which doesn't always work in SCIM if she happens to released Ctrl first. so I would suggest that make the 2nd method work as well :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Rolf (leggewie) Date: 2009-12-20 07:46 Message: I'm not sure what you suggest to be done (if anything). Can you please clarify? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Wei Mingzhi (whistler_wmz) Date: 2009-08-16 19:47 Message: never mind, setting to Shift+Control+Control_L combined with Shift+Control+Shift_L worked. I'll keep this open though, as I think it remains reasonable to support such key sequences by default (and I think it's a user-experience issue rather than a "Windows vs. Linux" debate ;D) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=650542&aid=2838721&group_id=108454 |
