I don't like to look at the notation while going through a game. For this reason would be nice to have the NAGs (when they are referred to a move) appearing "somewhere" close to the chessboard.
Where? I don't know... maybe you can use the idea of the sliding pane for the variations.

Seems to be a good idea. I've realized a first idea in r1075. Please select "Show annotation glyph" in context-sensitive menu off the board, and also consider "Timeout for annotation glyph" inside this menu.
