Hi,
During the wintertime I disigned and created a jib for my ship. Last week my ship went into the water after the winterseason and I had the first opportunity to try my new sail.
I must say I am happy with the result.
During the design I came upon an issue which I can't figure out.
In the Sail Mould you can set variables concerning the profile of the sail. You set the depth and the position of the camber at three levels, top middle and bottom.
So far pretty clear. On the left side ther is a verticle slider which you can set the vertical repartition with. Now moving this slider does not have any influence on the depths of the profile at the tree levels mentioned earlier. This I don't understand. In my understanding they must be connected somehow.
Perhaps i misunderstand what is meant by "vertical repartition". As far as I understand this indicates the position of maximal depth in the vertical range from bottom to top. Is that right?
I would like to know this. There are more winters to come and my main also needs replacement.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

So far there has been no reply at all. Which I do regret, because I would very much like to know the answer.
Does that mean that nobody is reading posts on this forum or have put my question to vague?

very good question. I tried it and understand what you mean.
I am trying to create a new jib for my boat and find sailcut quite good. But I also have questions to the designers.
First of all I think in the handbook of Sailcut 3.7 Figure 5 they mixed up the designation of X and Y axis? And i have problems with the transmission of the printed panels onto the sailcloth with the x, y coordinates, because some panels have more than one posibility to create the differences to x(s). Especially in nearly triangular panels of a radial cut. Who can explain that?
Why isn´t it possible to create a sail without the correct datas of rig geometry? It is difficult without measuring the missing datas at the boat. I think it should be possible to create a sail with just the lengths of leech, luff and foot, e. g. if you have an old sail as a template. One data should be added, this is the LP-data (luff perpendicular). Also there should be a possibility to note or create the pick-up points for the jib-sheet.
Apart from that in the german dialogue field the text is to long and disappears behind the adding field so that i don´t know which data is meant ("Abstand zwischen Segelhals und ??")
I hope someone will read this and can help me.
Janet
