Rune Helper / News: Recent posts

It has been abandoned for many reasons:

1) There are so many things to categorise it is going to take ages
2) With Runescape 2 now out levels and xp gains are quite hard to calculate
3) the person I asked to do it has decided that they are not capable of doing it.

Robert Brady (A friend of mine) has agreed to complete the Rune Helper Beastilary.

The Next Version of the program will be released when it is completed!

The main focus of this update is the Dynamic Update System. Gone now are the days of having to re download the entire program when a new guide was released. Now you just need to download the guide ( Normally less than 10KB ) and place it in the appropriate folder and you are away.

This version should really help those people out there on 56K Dial up Modems...

In this news release I have 2 important things to say:

1) Rune Helper WILL NOT be moving to VB.NET. This is becuase as a native VB 6 programmer I need to get use to a lot of new code (its that diffrent to VB 6!). Besides there is no need to move to VB .NET yet.

2) Smaller Updates - I am devoping a new update method where you only need to download the new quest / skill guides or maps. At the moment every time i release a new set of guides or maps you need to redownload the program but now you just need to download the guides. The only time you will have to redownload the program is if I update the actual program. This new way of releasing guides / maps will be in the next release of Rune Helper.

We are currently moving Rune Helper to Visual Basic .NET and so have to iron out some conversion errors.

P.S. - Devlopment has slowed down anyway because i am studying.

After working hard i have now been able to release some quests and all of the guides to the non-member skils ( excluding unimportant skills - woodcutting, prayer, firemaking and range )

also released are some bug fixes where the licence agreement wouldnt display and obselete code.

another handy feature added - print mode. you can now print off anything. a skill guide, a quest guide anything!

To get this update you need to download the entire thing ( patches v hard to make and v complex to use ). go to the files section and click on the file Rune-Helper-4.1.25-install.exe and download it. Source is located nearby.... read more

Ok Now with the release of Rune Helper 4 I can start do do work on more important things, For Example Quest and Skill Guides. When all or most of the skill guides are complete I will release them. So far:

Discovered a few problemb is Rune Helper 4 after release ( stupid me ) where the shortcut to rune helper might not work or take you to an older version of Rune Helper, thats fixed + more features added in Rune Helper 4.1.8 - You are Strongly Advised to download it NOW - Go to files section and download the install from the Rune Helper 4 Minor 1 Section. More about todays updates in detail:

A Lot of major changes today so Rune Helper became Version 4.1.8 as opposed to Version 4.0.7 . For the changes made see the change log or read on. I added some sounds to add some entertainment value into the program, you will now hear sounds like "Welcome To Rune Helper 4" and "Viewing Runescape Infomation". I fixed the static shourcut which would allways point to c:\Program files\Rune Helper\Rune_Helper 4.exe by removing it and getting the install program to create a dynamic shortcut. I used my basic graphic skills to create a new logo ( which is much better looking the the old one ) and finally i added an about box - to give me some credit!... read more

I have been working all day to bring you Rune Helper 4. You can download this major update to Rune Helper from the files section, scrol down to Rune Helper 4 and download the .exe file. the .zip is the source code.

As you may have noticed there is no souce code. Here is a the reasons why

The latest version of Rune Helper on the web is V 3.2.28 and I am currently
working on V 4. I would release the source code but until i get a final
release of version 4 the source code will not be able to be released. I am
working really hard on V 4 and hope to have a release by the new year. Also
it would be impossible to give you the source code for the other releases
because the source code has been modified to version 4 ( i don't archive my
source code ).... read more

For the last couple of months I have been working on Rune Helper 4. It has a new look and an easier to navigate interfaces with less windows.
