Porting of Ranker to GTK/GTKmm4 has been frozen.
Why is that?
The differences between GTK3 and GTK4 are significant, resulting in porting being a considerable effort, much bigger than anticipated. What is more, most of the user interface is created with the Glade interface designer. Unfortunately, Glade has no support for GTK4. There is no easy way of migrating the user interface definitions from GTK3 to GTK4.
Will Ranker ever be ported to GTK4?
It depends. There is a new UI designer, currently a work in progress. If the designer offers a reasonable migration path from GTK3 to GTK4, I will reconsider the migration.
What now?
Ranker compiles against GTK3. GTK3 has been stabilized, it shouldn't be a problem to build Ranker on mainstream platforms. Therefore, Ranker remains in a usable state.
