Ptarmigan Media Parser for XML / News: Recent posts

With this second alpha release, the Ptarmigan Media Parser for XML acquires a number of new features, including the extraction of metadata (like average bitrate) from MPEG data.

In addition to passing its own rigorous JUnit test suite it also has been stress-tested extensively using the JReceiver Audio Server ( http://jreceiver.sourceforge.net )

Ptarmigan is a SAX event generator which consumes MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WMA and four (4) different types of playlists to produce events containing metadata (album, artist, etc.) that can be used to build an XML document or to feed into a SAX pipeline for further processing.

Despite this being the first release it's nevertheless pretty stable and solid.
