I just want to make clear what we are aiming for in this project. The games I know that take care about showning as much as possible of a futuristic setting usually forget some part of it (Evochron series is a exelent representation, but you can only be in your ship and can't command anything else other than it) or make a poor implementation of some part of it (ground combat in Battlecruiser series is there, but is very buggy overall). I love space warfare games (including the above), but I want to see a different approach. More freedom to choose what you want to do, from ground combat, going through space combat and even some advanced trading mechanics (inflation, trade routes, manufacture and such). I hope to make a system interesting enough that people will like to belong to the army, and go planetside kick the enemy's ass up close and personal. And when I say army I mean something like Starship Troopers (the book please) Mobile Infantry or the Halo universe ODSTs. The point is that to kick something out of a planet you need someone to go down there and clean the place up. Without just bombarding or glassing the entire planet.... read more
And so our game begin. I'll not dwell in many specifics, mainly because we don't have much to talk yet. And so I'll just tell that things are going fine, and will keep going as possible to create the ultimate future simulation.
