PostgreSQL failed to be installed on my PC (Win Server enterprise edition 2003 X64) during the installation of the Project-Open-Windows-Community-4.0.5.0 for Windows. After the installation, the PO cannot be started automatically and also no "Start ]project-open[" was found in "Start">"Programs". And When trying to manually start the AOLserver-projop service, I am prompted "failed to start AOLserver Projop services, error 1075, DependOnService does not exist...". Could you help sovle this problem? How to download and install the PostgreSQL supporting Win2003 X64? Many thanks for your kind help!

Hi,
This is the first time we hear about a failing Windows installation.
=> Could you please uninstall ]po[ and reinstall?
=> Do you still have the installation log file (the text in the install window)? Could you please send us this text of your reinstall?
Cheers!
Frank
Hi Frank,
Thanks for your reply. Actually I reinstalled the PO after such failure, and but the problem still persists.
As I use Windows 2003 X64 in Chinese version, the message appeared during the installation includes Chinese characters (it might not be convenient for you to understand), indicating that the PostgreSQL and AOLserver-projop could not be correctly installed and configured. Also in the porgrams list under the Control Panel of Windows, no PostgreSQL was found, which means this program was not installed in my PC. So could you provide a site for me to download the PostgreSQL 8.4 (64 bit) and install it separately, to see if this problem could be fixed.
Michael
Hi Frank,

Hi Michael,
www.postgres.org
But: That doesn't make any sense and you won't be able to work around the installer.
Actually, the installer will complain that PostgreSQL is already installed and stop to continue.
=> Please try with a different computer.
=> As an alternative, please use the VMware Installer.
Cheers,
Frank
We were receiving the error, "Creating 'postgres' user account: result=ERROR 2245" during the install on a Windows 2008 server. Our password policy is strict (15 characters), so when the installer tried to create the 'postgres' user it couldn't. We solved the issue by taking the Windows box off the network, so our password policy would not apply, and completing the install.
I have the same exact problem installing on windows server 2003 64bit and installed without postgresql and so AOL server didn't start because of the dependcy. I installed postgresql but nothing happened still exist.
did u solved this problem?
Sorry guys, we won't fix this for V4.0 now.
We'll release a new Windows installer for V5.0 in a few weeks or months.
Please contact me then in order to make sure it works for you.
We'll definitely select a more complex password.
Cheers!
Frank
