If it is ok with Bill and Dale, I will also do the inital import into CVS over the break. Right now, all that is there is the CVSROOT info. On another note, Bill said he'd like to put the task list from the meeting in sourceforge. Here is the list I have along with things from Michael's mail - any other additions? 0) In general seperate content from presentation (several items below fall into this category) 1) Pull HTML from all files with HTML in them (this is from Michael's mail) 2) Start building a CSS file => Patty? 3) Write JavaScript to pull data like "Weather Magnet" 4) Convert tables to layers 5) normalize the database tables 6) load some real content into a sample local database 7) ability to upload a story without an audio file (allow blank fields in general) 8) Way for people who do not know javascript to export content 9) Get started on install instructions Bill, are you able to see all the people on this list? Howdy folks - Hope things are going well with the code. I know there were some challenges, so don't forget to contact me with any questions you might have. This list is a fine place to discuss such issues, or my Email, or my IM, or the SF forums, or whatever. As you know, at some point we'll need to develop a team project plan. I guess this will be most easily accomplished after you all have had your time to review the code and do the first content/presentation separation task. So the big question is, when will we be at that point? When do we think we'll know enough about the project to being discussing a draft plan? Recommendation: the config.php file in th 'newsdb' directory has a few
define functions and such set up that I was never able to fully
implement.
There is an install directory variable set at line 3 of that file:
$install_directory = '/pmm-cms/NewsCMS';
Then at line 23 the global constants that use that variable are set:
define('INSTALL_DIR',
$_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].$install_directory);
define('WEB_DIR',
'http://'.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$install_directory);
define('PI_STATION_ID', $pi_station_identification);
You might want to do a global search and replace for the path you're
trying to replace. Replace it with the globally defined path from that
config file. Usage of the constants would be similar to the way it's
done in the functions.php file in that same directory at line 47:
include INSTALL_DIR."/newsdb/dbvars.php";
I thought I had converted all of those server-specific directories, but
perhaps not.
I have no good answer for the database question, except that we never
expected it to be this big, so the DB is not very relational in nature.
I think I only used one linking table, and the rest is totally
un-normalized. Sorry! That's why you guys get the big bucks, right?
