We would like to welcome everyone to the community.
Lets take a moment to welcome everyone to the new Peppermint OS Forum. As you can see, this is a complete start-over from the Peppermint 10 based forum. Due to the direction changes with the operating system, the previous forum platform, does not really fit well with the CI / CD base structure
A couple of quick notes: This forum is hosted on SourceForge as you know. that means your you account can be used to interact with all things on this platform, not just Peppermint OS. We also have repos available on this platform, you are welcome to contribute code or ideas if you would like.... just let is know
Hello people. I went looking for help on peppermintos and found this new forum. Can I still get answers to noob questions here? I am not a coder or expert!
I am using an old 32bit Acer notebook running Peppermint 8. Will I run into trouble if I try to update to the latest version on this hardware?

Peppermint 8, has reached EOL. (End of Life). We are currently developing a 32bit OS to compliment our 64bit release. It is not production ready, its release date unclear. Essentially it will ready when it is ready.
Upgrading to Peppermint 9 or 10, (32bit), both use the 18.04 Ubuntu base OS. Is a hit or miss affair. It would be prudent to retain it for the time being. Ensure to have your firewall ie GUFW is enabled and avoid unnecessary browsing of the internet, until you are able, to upgrade your system. It will mean a new install. As we now use Debian as the base OS and Xfce desktop, as development of the LXDE desktop is in a limbo state.
Lubuntu have dropped the LXDE desktop and gone with the LXqt desktop, if the LXDE is your preferred choice, there very few distros that offer it.

Hi all, I've been using Peppermint for a couple of years now an a couple of self build AMD desktops. This is the first time I've needed any help, that says a lot for how stable this distro is.

Good thoughts @nelson.
Yes, the new community area does take getting used to.
I'm still learning it's features as I post and reply.
The PeppermintOS team stands ready to assist those that have questions or issues. We shall do our best to assist them here as we did in the last home.
BTW, I am also a PCLinuxOS user, and official tester.
I run the Trinity and Xfce desktops on 2 machines.

No Hertog Jan. Cheers!
A gorgeous tipple, usually find it around the Assen area when I'm visiting for the WSB and GP meeting and good beer, and the Dutch culture, of course.
I with you Peter, I'm getting tired of this Irish stuff. :-)
Never fear, Vince is here :)
To beer or not to beer.
In terms of a good beer or as they say in Scotland a Pint of Heavy.

cavy, I think I mentioned to you that occasionally I am able to purchase McEwans Scotch Ale at our my local Liquor Barn.
They did not have any on the last visit, but did pick up Orkney Skull Splitter Scotch Ale and Einstok Wee Heavy.
