Hi there, Pepper I need to report something. the PeppermintOS nightly ISO (2025-09-28) still has the same bug I told you about last time. The Calamares installer still cannot install the bootloader in BIOS MBR. And if you type sudo grub-install in the terminal , it gives an error.

Ahh thanks! for letting us know.
In our virtual environment I use "Incus" it seemed to work ok for BIOS but looks like it compensated for the packages from the host. ...hmmmm
However, I was able to replicate the issue in the VM. So now its isolated to the VM.
Anyway I added in a shell module to determine UEFI or BIOS, it seems to be working as expected now for mbr. So.... will get this new ISO uploaded and drop a link for you.
Thanks!

Installed iso 2510.02 on my 15 year old lenovo-g470 - bios only in logical partition sda7
No problems at all
After that......I changed the whole thing to Cinnamon ( via synaptic )
No problems ! --> except. when clicking on desktop and clicking :Terminal",
nothing happens--also, no Terminal in taskbar( left side )
Had to add terminal manually
See you !

Hello again Pepper, I tried the ISO you uploaded the 2025-10-02 and sadly it has the same problem. I verified the checksum and everything is fine. I managed to install it, but I had to download the grub-pc package in the Terminal, after downloading it, the Calamares installer proceeded normally and installed the bootloader without any problems, and well, that's all I wanted to report. If it helps, I'll mention that in the current stable ISOs, when you type sudo grub-install in the terminal, you get an error saying that the modinfo.sh file does not exist. When you download the grub-pc package, that error disappears and the Calamares installer works without any problems.

At this point I am not sure...All of my tests are successful on both EFI and BIOS...
Additionally OldTon saying his testing in BIOS is working as well. It might just be hardware specific. - But thank you!

When I go to Menu/ Display and --press<-- mirror , it does show me 1378x768
Other distros show me 1280x720
So, i can adjust it... .OK
The refresh rate in other install is shown as 59.74
This one is 60
So, I adjust it OK
Then I carry on do an install
After reboot, as always, I have to do it again
--->> now, NOTHING has changed, still 1378 and refresh is 60
I can adjust the display to 1280 OK
But the refresh rate stays at 60--Can NOT change it
---->> this results in my taskbar to sit UNDER my display
My choices are now : put the panel on the left side OR go to preferences and find the right way to <<move>> the panel 1 or 2 or 3 lines up</move>
In ( guessing here ) 70% of all my installs ( regardles of distro ) I have to adjust all settings ( 1378 and 60 ) , but it works
the other 30% is correct without me touching anything
Please note, HERE I am NOT complaining, ONLY reporting, as some of my friends also have simular problems wit their linux installs
Personally, I am OK with < some > messing around :-)
Not everyone is....
No assistance needed..............! ! !
See you

I want to apologize 100 times as the fault//mistake was completely mine, not the program
When starting Display settings, the 2nd HD was not activated
It's very clear on the picture , but..but..I didn't see it, or worse, I saw it and ignored it.
After activating BOTH , everything was normal again
Once again, apologies for any waste of time caused by me

Installation went fine, a bit quicker than when I installed Bookworm. My only problem is Brave keeping on asking for the keyring password which apparently is a problem with the Brave update, a bit annoying but not a problem per se.
Congrats to all the team who are working to keep creating this fine distro.
Regards
Tony

I used Rufus to transfer the ISO to my USB drive. I also tried Ventoy, but I got the same error.
I ALWAYS use something based on ddCopy
I NEVER had a problem in 20 years
Look in your repo's for a ddcopy based usb writer
I also verified the checksum and everything is normal.

Ignore my previous post about Brave, after opening it several times it opens as per normal now without the keyring requester.
Everything is working great.
