    Hello Peppermint Team
i hope this is the right place to post this.
    downloaded this file
    Linux-ISOs\PeppermintOS-Debian_64_RC
installation went well but i thought grub would find the existing win10 partition like the old distro did so i would have a dual boot.
But it does not appear in the grub booting screen.
i have read on some forums that Grub is set to NOT look for other OS partitions but until now i can't fix this

by the way, the new icon's etc look good ;)

Check the /etc/default/grub file. If the text body looks like example A, see below.

In Thunar, right click your mouse and in the drop-down menu click on Open in root here and remove the hash in front of the word GRUB. In the text file, click on the word File in Mousepad and save this save.

Then open a terminal and run sudo update-grub. This should now find Windies 10.

If neither example are present, copy and paste example B into the /etc/default/grub file in root mode and save this as described above and run the update-grub command.

    A

    # Uncomment this to run os-prober so search for and add other OS installations to the grub boot menu
    #GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

    B

    # Uncomment this to run os-prober so search for and add other OS installations to the grub boot menu
    GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

Cavy, you did it again ;)
Non of those examples were found in the file, so like you wrote i copied line B into the grub file and it worked perfectly.
    thank you!

    I have downloaded the Debian-RC
It runs good and snappy on my old hardware.
For what I do daily, there are no problems so far.
I hope the Devuan release is as good as this
    Thanks

I'm using a Realtek USB wifi adapter to connect to the internet. The drivers for it have to be compiled with the make command to use them. I was able to compile the driver successfully in previous versions but in the Debian-RC the driver errors during the compile. I assume the driver isn't compatible with Debian 12? Now using my smartphone to connect.

You will need to give us more details of your Realtek USB wifi adapter. If it worked in Bullseye, I would have thought it would function in Bookworm.

Need details of donor computer, i.e age, specs and specs of the Realtek USB, usual driver and origin of its download.

Yes, it worked fine in Bullseye. I think I may need a new copy of the files/install script. I'll see if I can get them, and report back.

Working now after redownloading driver. The source shows that some of the files were updated 2 days ago including the install script which was erroring out before.

Could this be a result of the new "non-free-firmware" that is present on Debian 12?
