Hi all we are partners with AcorOS its a much more new user focus operating system , for the community rather than the minimal focus that peppermint OS takes. It has a plethora of desktops. and can be a super great alternative for those who prefer, a more traditional OS setup
I you are interested please let us know.

acoros is a nice distro and it gets updated quite regularly. its one of the few debian distros i keep an eye on. manuel is also helpful when it comes to issues, would recommend checking it out.

I 'burned' a USB flash drive with AcorOS/lxqt32, and booted it with my Asus netbook. AcorOS looks great on a 10" screen - shockingly so. I was blown away by it, actually. Everything displays in the proper sizes and proportions, just like it was made for it. Kudos!

I downloaded - Installed - updated the Mate version today.
All works very well and it's very good looking.
I only tested a few Appz, but it looks good
However, there is one thing.
After installation and reboot.......there is only one !
If you want to have access to your other installations......
..........>> cavy's advice/instructions are somewhere on this forum
Personally, I have zero problems with it
All by all.......very nice.

downloaded and looked at Xfce version in a live usb session.
nice wallpapers and suite of apps for those wanting a more robust os.
personally, i tend more toward minimal. so, i would get rid of libreoffice and replace chromium with firefox-esr.
also, i'd remove snapd - not a fan. maybe have as a choice?
maybe a devuan version?
one of the distros i currently run is peppermint-devuan replacing sysV with runit.
if one is looking for a distro to use as is without much tinkering, this looks nice.
peace ~ cheers.

I have just downloaded the Cinnamon iso, I will give it a test in Vbox. I'm really loving the new peppermint. It gives one a blank canvas to add what one wants. though I do miss the old peppermint branding and the sweet. lol. If I can help in anyway, let me know. I was thinking perhaps a cinnamon version of peppermint with a (few) more apps might be useful for beginners?

That's interesting one of the Developer @jfaulk1230 has been building Classic xfce.....the idea is it would be a one time release, or special event release. from time to time. Or if the community wants to pick up interest in it it could be a supported branch of its own...
maybe he could connect with you for a cinnamon spin. Another though would be to release after install scripts... that would set the branding that you have here. good idea.... Let me ping John to get his thought to you.
Thank you! so much!

Those sound like really great ideas! I like the fact that the word peppermint has been played with, so now you have the two brands, Peppermint (the plant) and Peppermint the sweet. It's like saying; The peppermint (sweet version) is beginner/traditional and the peppermint plant, leafs you to do your own thing (gardening) I think the script idea is great for experienced pepperminter's, but perhaps a little too advanced for the beginner? I think you are right though, it all comes down to whether the community will make use of it or not. PeppermintOS has always had a fun look, and I think that's why people love it so much.

first up, thank you @pepdebian for bringing this to my attention, was much needed!
Adam, I am actually working on a "Classic" variant of our Debian-based branch that is meant to be a mix of the Peppermint 10 layout (AND tools) atop a new theme. We would absolutely love to have some people on that part of the project, and as far as your cinnamon configs are concerned, I think this would be a good starting point to revive the Peppermint-Extras feature that was in Peppermint Bullseye/Chimaera. If you can join our Matrix Channel, we can make arrangements to have you on for Classic, and perhaps even future endeavors. Does this sound good to you?

ive been thinking of setting up an openbox version but have it setup like a complete desktop application wise and use launchers instead of the openbox menu along with a dock. ive put it into place on an ubuntu base where it worked quite well but would be even better on debian due not having to work around snapd. also tried a fluxbox version but it didnt work great though. This was a preview of the ubuntu version
@cavy and I did reach out to the lilidog to get some ideas and ask if we can work with some of their configs.....In the build pipeline we do have a spot for the configs. in the codebase.
I am actually currently putting together the configs now.....LOL your ideas and thoughts are more than welcome rayzer...... if you get to a point where you want to upload the confiigs please do cavt and I will sift through them and see about making some stuff fit

We are starting to expand as well... we can do this because of all the automation that we have implemented. Because of that we can innovate and idea share.... to break it down simply
We have a main-line these are desktop builds with a starting point for the user.
- Devuan / Debian based - 32/64 bit - (Devuan can select the init system)
- Devuan / Debian based - ARM - (Devuan can select the init system)
- Desktops are XFCE, GnomeFlashback (I am working on Openbox) we can add more only if the community members such as yourself Adam :) LOL are willing to maintain the configs....Just takes one person per Desktop to commit to it.
Later this month we will release the Pep Mini This really gives control on what to build for the user.
- This is a network install using the Debian installer
- Devuan / Debian based - 32/64 bit - (Devuan can select the init system)
- The Desktops are similar to the main-line but we did add in mostly vanilla desktops.
Classic - In the works
Yeah for now this is a seasonal or once a year type release. Just depends on the support we get from the community, this actually does mimic the past pep10 with its applications and tools.
Server builds these will be available in the future mostly geared towards businesses and users who need a server service, no desktop but a starting point with SELinux, and other server configurations... who knows maybe it can reach a noticeable status LOL
AcorOS This is a partner project who has very common points of view as us however they are really focused on new users and helping them learn Linux, Their releases are packed with nice tools for the user. The idea here is we help our communities grow an learn together.
But yeah a whole lot more things than what we used to do....LOL the more volunteers that get involved the better things can be we can build.... and like Adam mentions, if people want a perm.....classic build....its totally doable....if the support is there.
With all that said,
if anyone is interested in pulling back the curtain and getting involved... please do let me know. We would be super stoked to have you guys help us make things better.
