#225 Avatar jumps down stairs

In the original Ultima VIII, if you run full speed at stairs, the Avatar will slow down and walk up or down the stairs at a slow and safe rate. In Pentagram, when the Avatar decides to run down a set of stairs, he throws caution to the wind and just throws himself right off. The Avatar should slow down to a walk on stairs, didn't his parents teach him anything?
