The move penalty has been reduced from half the move range to 1 when shooting with a moving unit.
The new zoom functionality allows shooting at long distance ranges (> 10 distance units).
The explosions generated on the webcam images have been greatly improved!
The most important are an easier selection of units and an improved fire dialog.
Panzer Combat II 6.0 has SURF (Speeded Up Robust Features) object recognition built. Enemy units that have been shot have a blue (black if they are destroyed) marker on them with the name of the unit.
Gamers who don't have miniature tanks can now participate in Panzer Combat II miniature tank battles at http://server.panzercombat.com/PCII_Web/fire.htm
It has been a while since the last release of Panzer Combat II for Mac. But here it is, a brand new version 5.3!
The new version comes with additional unit type images, an auto installer program and several improvements related to real-time computer action when running 2 instances.
Real-time computer action has been added in Panzer Combat II v5.0. While firing your tank can now be destroyed by an enemy unit!
A blob detection algorithm has been added to the existing magic wand contour computation in order to improve the detection of camouflaged units at short and long distances.
Dragging the aim in order to select a target was quite cumbersome on tablets when firing with a webcam. From v4.14, a simple touch (click) will select the target, firing is done with the fire button, just like when no webcam is available. Dragging is still available but the aim won't follow mouse movements anymore.
The target detection algorithm has been improved and the contour of the selected target is now shown in red before firing just like in the World of Tanks.
Almost all tanks do have an image in Panzer Combat v4.10.
Units previously selected for action are not eligible anymore for selection till all units have been selected. An immobilized unit is destroyed when immobilized again.
Fix some problems : when a unit is immobilized it should be the target, not the unit selected for action. Also add 2 to the max effective range when the distance is uncertain (computed by webcam). Make sure task executor has terminated before restarting a new one, check for interrupted exceptions, don't create a new SpeakerThread for every Speaker.speak call, initialize FlickrUploadManager in background.
New sound effects and unitType images have been added in v4.6 of Panzer Combat II.
When a shot misses very close, chances are 2/3th to immobilize the target for a side shot and one half for a rear or a front shot.
Panzer Combat v4.4 has been released introducing a new property for unit types : the maximum effective fire range. This property is necessary to distinguish high penetration power over long distances (anti tank range and max effective range both high) from high penetration power over short distance like a bazooka (AT high but max effective range low).
Panzer Combat II v4.3 now uploads battle events with pictures (even when no webcam is used) and army descriptions to http://www.flickr.com/photos/panzercombatii .
Panzer Combat II v4.2 provides IP address based geolocation to Flickr in order to sort pictures on the map at http://www.flickr.com/photos/panzercombatii/map .
This is an absolute record for a computer-assisted wargame and the day is not yet finished.
The quality and the description of the uploaded fire images have been improved. The first battle uploads are now public on : http://www.flickr.com/photos/panzercombatii
From Panzer Combat II v4.0, you can upload your shots on the Flickr Panzer Combat II page : http://www.flickr.com/photos/panzercombatii
Panzer Combat II v3.10 stores image captures for shots organized in directories by battle.
V3.9 of Panzer Combat II has support for all webcam video formats when using Java Media Framework (default). Furthermore the communication between mutiple instances of Panzer Combat II has been improved : it is now possible to validate the shot of the oppponent on the remote computer.
