Update 2.6 hangs up while Installing in macOS 13.4.1 (Ventura)
The 'new from clipboard' is an excellent workaround, thank you for sharing!!
I've noticed that only the bottom right quarter of any captured image is pasted. Digging into this I discovered that on the newer (perhaps only retina) displays the screen capture function saves images at double the resolution. Thus this problem. My workaround is to either capture an image 4 times the size of the desired image (with the desired image bottom right) - OR- capture to a file and edit that file in a second paintbrush window. But it would be great if this bug could be addressed.

Thanks for your patience! This should now be fixed with Paintbrush 2.5.2.
Yes, can't work around the pasting problem as described. Only having this issue since I got my new Macbook Air, so not even sure where the problem is coming from. But everything else in Paintbrush is working fine!
The only solution for now is to go back to Catalina
Hello, I am looking for an update on this. Or, does anyone know of an alternative, similar program?
This is still a problem with version 2.5. Please fix this!
Any updates to this? https://youtu.be/7Nh2BB7NyPM?t=39
Crashes on Big Sur when adding Text to any Canvas
Still an issue in 2.5.
You should be able to drag the window to where you want to paste it, then click outside the outline, to put it there.
I know this is an old thread but I don't think it's been fixed at all. I have the newest version And all it does when I try to save is just give me the error sound and nothing happens. Even when I try to close out the application it does nothing and gives me the error sound. all I know is the version is 4. something

Okay. There's "New from Clipboard". Sorry for not seeing it in the first place.
Paste as new - CMD+Shift+V
What I noticed is that when I paste clipboard content in a new image (I use Mac OS X's cmd+shift+ctrl+4, then in Paintbrush I use File->New From Clipboard, cmd+shift+N), if I do not save the image right away, and I use the text tool to write something on the image, then the situation described above will occur (Save does nothing, Save As does nothing, Quit does not qork, I need to Force-Quit). Hi Try the "old" version 2.0.1., I have also that problem with OSX 10.11.6 (El Capitan) I change to my old Paintbrush and now it is OK. Problem saving files
Hi everyone, Unfortunately I have not been monitoring this forum, otherwise I would have addressed this issue long ago. I can repro this on my local enlistment and will attempt to have a fix available by the end of the week.
I just discovered this issue today. I installed paintbrush on my new mac and went to use it while tutoring. I like to go step by step and capture the images as I go and share with the student. I couldn't get it to save my changes after the first save by simply selecting "save." I also tried doing Save As and I was asked if I wanted to replace the existing file, to which I said yes, and it appeared to go through, but when I looked at the file, it did not have the changes. I also tried doing Save As...

Clean up licensing across project
Same problem with version 2.3 under OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan I was able to save exactly once and never again. Do you have to "donate" to save?
save project failed
until an update is released I have been zooming out and using the actual select tool to select the entire canvas, then cut and paste it into a new note in MacOS' Notes app. Able to get my changes out that way.

Same here on 10.14.1. Lost an hour of editing.
Mac El Capitan...The same problem but I install the old one (vrs 2.0.1.) it workvery well and I block the update for the last one.
I'm experiencing this today for the first time. High Sierra 10.13.4. Paintbrush Version 2.2.1 (20171227)
Happens to me, with version 2.2.1 on Sierra. In some cases, I'll create a new image by pasting from another source, and then save it ... the saved file is completely blank/white (confirmed via hex dump of file).
Problem with pasting images into canvas
I have run into a problem recently with saving files in Version 2.2.1 (20171227) on Sierra 10.12.6,. which may be related to this issue, not sure. Sometimes, when I try to save a file (either created new or opened existing), the Paintbrush menu item turns black, as if the menu was entered, and the error sound is made, but file does not save, and there is no file save dialog for save as, so can't save the file. Workaround is to select all, copy to clipboard, create new from clipboard, then save that....

Hi, I have been a great fan of Paintbrush on Mac for a long time. now, recently since about last month (Feb 2018), I have the same issue noted by others reported here. Its really frustating and makes such a great software totally unusable. I am running Sierra 10.12.6, and I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling paintbrush, issue still doesn't go away. Thank you for looking into it. God bless.
Same here. I've lost hours and hours of work.
Same for me. This is bad broken. I can save the file once. If I want to make any additional edits, I have to close the app and reopen it. Otherwise, it silently does not save my changes. I'm running Sierra.
