OpenSong Import should allow for the import and export of ChordPro files. Among other things, this would allow individual communities that use SongSelect to have a simple two-step process (SongSelect download to Chordpro, OpenSong import of Chordpro) to import songs they acquire from SongSelect.

I did not know, SongSelect now has ChordPro downloads. And sadly I only have an Advanced subscription and thus are excluded.
Regardless, ChordPro is a pretty limitted format for song exchange, Almost any metadata has to be tagged as comment, no author, no copyright, no song section tags except for chorus, ...
The inline chord notation with square brackets is pretty common, though.
SongSelect might have conventions for these comments (or even might have non-standard tags altogether), as it looks like the chord sheets on the web site are generated from a ChordPro source. Do you know of any documentation / specification by ccli? Or can you provide sample files with as many features that are also supported by OpenSong as possible? Public domain songs prefered.
The fact that ccli now offers chordpro is a good reason for considering it again, since the direct import from their site is gone and also the somewhat automation friendly .usr files have gone.
For now, consider using the OpenSong Import Program downloadable from this site.
Being able to use that convention in OpenSong would be fantastic. We use OpenSong to manage our worship song library, and we've had to use an awkward workaround to print out songs with chords in their correct locations.
