Currently, there is no possibility to indicate for a Service Provider the maximum allowed string length for attributes or elements that are modified by an "SetStateOperation" (AbstractSetStateOperationDescriptor).

Proposal: Add an extension to indicate the maximum length for a modifiable Data element.

Allow to constraint character sets allowed for strings.

    Some points to consider:

    • Modifiable data is a broken concept in BICEPS as it relies on XPath processing (see [#157])
    • Provider should be able to accept any UTF-8 input no matter what characters are supported by legacy systems

We agreed on adding this attribute in a revision of BICEPS.

Re-evaluate if this concept is still feasible. Modifiable Data is conceptually brittle as it requires internal APIs to reveal the use of XML under the hood.
