Would it be possible that leechers could receive a
message upon login from a file?

And the main request, they can search files but not
download any?

This "receive message on login" is a good idea and thus
added to the TODO list in the current CVS.

The other one - let them search but not download - is a bit
awkward.

This would mean that leeches are able to suck bandwidth by
searching and if they send a specially crafted packet directly
to the other client they will be able to download anything they
want thus circumventing any limits on the server.

I therefore think that the current solution to eject them when the
server is full is the most appropriate one.
