Minutes of the meetings of the OATC (OpenMI Association's Technical Committee)
Next Meeting: 2016-04-05, 15:00-16:00 CEST
Venue: Skype or GoToMeeting
Meeting 2016-04-05, 15:00-16:00 CET
Venue: Skype
Participants: Standa Vanecek (DHI), Jesper Grooss (DHI), Paul Cleverley (HR Wallingford), Stef Hummel (Deltares)
Apologies: Quillon Harpham (HR Wallingford), Adrian Harper (Innovyze)
Background:
The meeting was organized because an external call for support (BAYER, Germany) made clear that the OATC should resume its meetings again, to take care that not too long from now we can produce:
* A new release of Pipistrelle
* A new release of Fluid Earth's SDK
* A released version of OATC's SDK, or - if that is too much work for the short term - at least support for that version.
Status SDK's:
* HR Wallingford is still in the lead for the maintenance and development of the FluidEarth SDK and GUI (Pipistrelle). Half a year ago John Barnes, who is participating in a project that uses Fluid Earth, made some changes to the SDK. Before that, Stef made some changes to the GUI (see below)
* Deltares and DHI both have their own version of the OATC SDK. Deltares has made quite a few fixes to the OATC's SDK to make models that are wrapped using this SDK loadable into Pipistrelle. They will commit this changes to the trunk, taking care that all working tests still will work (remark: done by now).
* A quarter of the tests in the OATC SDK trunk are failing. This is not because of newly introduced errors, but because of the fact that the tests were never ported from 1.4 to 2.0.
(This was because the idea has been that people would use the Fluid Earth SDK; however, given the fact that the OATC SDK is still used by two parties, we will enhance the status and thus the tests).
Status Pipistrelle:
* Pipistrelle has been and is used in some projects, leading to some fixes every now and then.
* When using Pipistrelle for coupling Deltares' Sobek3 models Stef noticed a few shortcomings for this application of Pipistrelle:
* * Models are re-initialised when the computation starts
* * The composition (.chi) file has some inconviences (main one: full paths)
* * Existing connections can not be moved
* * There are some bug in adding AdaptedOutputs to connections.
Actions:
Stef will create issues for this on the Tickets page (bugs/change requests) of FluidEarth's sourceforge project (https://sourceforge.net/p/fluidearth).
Paul will take action to get someone get started on working on these bugs and change requests.
Paul will also initiate action on the remarks on the .chi file. To be involved: at least Adrian, Paul and Stef.
Standa will convoke a new meeting (april 5th), and will invoke all OATC members. Stef will ask BAYER if they would like to participate in the OATC meetings.
During the next meeting we will discuss the details of and plan the action resulting from the tickets mentioned above.
