I removed the on-screen shutter button, but I can't use the physical shutter button.
It's a great app and I hope it will be improved in the near future.
Does the shutter button work on other makes and models?

Most Android devices don't have a physical shutter button - do you mean that the physical shutter button works normally in Open Camera, but not when disabling the on-screen button? Or that it doesn't work at all?
Does the physical shutter button work with other third party camera applications?

In the open camera settings, it says that in order to use the physical shutter button, need to turn off the on-screen shutter button.
Whether there is an on-screen button or not, cannot use the physical shutter button.
I've tried a few other camera apps not work.

Ah sorry - the setting just means that if you have another method to trigger taking photos that you'd rather use, you can turn off the on-screen shutter button if you want.
If it doesn't work in other third party cameras it seems like the shutter button isn't wired up to something they can detect.

I also tried other camera apps but they didn't work.
Default Ulefone Camera app is com.mediatek.camera 1.1.60030, but file size are too large (ca. 62MB). It seems that the physical shutter button function has been added.
Is there anything I can do?

I'm in a similar situation. I have a Sony Xperia device with a dual-action dedicated shutter button, when pressed slightly it does focus, but pressing all the way down doesn't take the pic even with software shutter button disabled

You might try using a macro application to record the dedicated shutter button press and translate it to a button press or screen tap which does trigger the camera. This may or may not work well enough to suit you but it may also help provide information here that could help fix the issue.
