Hi!
I just released the first version of 'VirusHammer', the standalone virus-scanner of the OpenAntivirus-Project. You can download it at the usual place at SourceForge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openantivirus/
53e236c55fe81b8e2c23e26590b6cc31 VirusHammer-0.1.0.zip
If you want to get involved, please translate it into your language or paint a cool application logo for the hammer.
Release Notes:
This is the very first version. If you want to update the signatures, you have to unzip the jar and change 'virussignatures.txt'. The whole application is internationalized (I18N). Current languages are English and German. If you want to localize it (L10N) to your language, simply unzip the jar and translate everything within 'VirusHammer.properties' to the right of the '=' signs. Then send the result to kurt@openantivirus.org. I am working on a new format for the signatures, so that you can update them very easy, even automatically.... read more
The OAV project (http://www.openantivirus.org/) released version 0.7.2 of PatternFinder, the virus signature detection tool.
This version adds support for the F-Prot virus scanner.
The Openantivirus project (http://www.openantivirus.org/) released version 0.4.0 of its GPL virus scanner.
This version adds support for a digitally signed virus signature file. You have to use the new virussignatures file with it.
From now on, we only accept virus pattern generated by PatternFinder, if you send the virus with it, so that we can verify the pattern.
The OpenAntivirus project (http://www.openantivirus.org/) released the first version of transparent virus scanning support for squid. You can download RPMs for (at least) SuSE 7.3 on the SF page (http://sourceforge.net/projects/openantivirus/).
Added support for Samba 3.0 alphaX, don't try to scan directories (seemed to happen only by Win* clients) and optionally exclude files from scanning if they are greater than a specific file size.
A new version of ScannerDaemon of the OpenAntivirus (http://www.openantivirus.org/) Project has been released. It contains a rewrite of the scanengine to be able to detect polymorphic virii and spread signatures.
An integration into AMaViS (http://www.amavis.org/) is currently being done, so you can actually use it.
The number of detected virii is still low, but we will integrate all current mail virii as soon as possible.
samba-vscan 0.1.0 uses now Sophos SAVI and Trend VSAPI directly, therefore Sophie/Trophie is not needed anymore. Documentation has been improved.
This release should work now with Samba 2.2.0 up to Samba 2.2.2. Support for Trend Micro's Engine+Trophie has been added
The samba-vscan module is a proof-of-concept Samba VFS module for on-access scanning of samba shares. You need a Samba installation with (working) VFS (virtual file system) support, Sophos Sweep and Sophie to give it a try.
The OpenAntivirus Project has released the first alpha version of its free virus scanner. It currently detects 5 different virii in 11 variants.
You can help the project by submitting virus signatures. Signatures can be easily extracted from infected files by the use of the 'PatternFinder' and any other virus scanner.
