There haven't been any news lately, so I figured the rest of the world should know about our efforts. Some might have already noticed some stuff in CVS...
Particularly, I added server configuration support to OpenAG, so you can easily connect to the AGServer, which is also in CVS.
An updated version of the AG protocol and even an Ethereal dissector can be found there too.
Development is still going on and contributors are welcome.
All users with a checked out version of the OpenAGs cvs source tree will need to run a "cvs update -d" command in order to update to a buildable version of the source. The mp3info libary is now part of the CVS source, and replaces the non-CVS enabled directory mp3info which was previously automatically created by make.
OpenAG is a command line client for the Audiogalaxy filesharing system. It boasts full protocol compliance and a blazing fast non-blocking I/O multiplexing communications model. OpenAG has a corresponding Mac OS X interface OpenAG X.
OpenAG/OpenAG X 1.1.1 offers a few fixes which did not make the 1.1 release, namely: incoperation of the latest libmp3info library, fixing of a couple memory errors, documentation and logging improvements, and a new OpenAG X icon.
The author of libmp3info announced to me yesterday in an email, that the server from which OpenAG currently grabs the mp3info source at compiletime will be DOWN for a short period of time this evening.
I would encourage all users who are having trouble compiling because of this to simply wait a coupld hours and try again.
The note I recieved:
due to a power outage in the technion, t2.technion.ac.il will be offline in 19.4.2002 during 7:00-9:00 IDT. I have set up a mirror for the file in:

OpenAG 1.1 corresponds to the OpenAG X 1.1 release, and offeres improvements over the 1.1 devtest2 release, including closing of several memory leaks, much improved resuming, auto removal of temporary files, and others.
OpenAG X is a client for the Audiogalaxy filesharing system. It boasts full protocol compliance and a blazing fast non-blocking I/O multiplexing communications model. OpenAG X is the corresponding Mac OS X interface to the OpenAG command line application.
1.1 contains many bug fixes from the 1.0 release. Most importantly, all string encoding issues are fixed, and all causes of the "cycling bug" are removed, many, many internal code changes, and several user-interface improvements. All users should upgrade.

1.1 devtest2 addresses issues encountered while reading preferences files on some systems. Compile support for Solaris and FreeBSD are also added. Default file locations have now all been moved to be $HOME dependent.
OpenAG is a *nix,*BSD, OS X client for the Audiogalaxy filesharing system. OpenAG boasts full protocol compilance, a blazing fast non-blocking I/O multiplexing communications model, and over 4 months of stabilty.
OpenAG 1.1 devtest1 is the first release of OpenAG via sourceforge. This release is also the first release targeted to the unix/linux community, bringing prelimnary GNU Autotools support, as well as many bug fixes to the 1.0 OpenAG and OpenAG X releases.
CVS has now been completely fixed. In addition all of the older 1.27 and prior files have been removed and replaced with a new directory structure. Automake/Autoconf/Libtool support has been added to OpenAG, although the current support is preliminary. .nib files are now properly comitted in the repository and both OpenAG and OpenAG X should build fine from the current CVS!
I recieved an email from sourceforge this afternoon, confirming that OpenAGs CVS has been fixed. However, it should be noted, that OpenAG now requires the binary for libMP3info (distributed in the MacOS X package) in order to run. As soon as I am back at home I will commit my most recent changes to OpenAGs, confirm that the sourceforge cvs compiles, and include a link to libMP3info.
I unintentionally broke CVS access to the OpenAGs tree on Tuesday. I have submitted a support request and as soon as that request is filled not only will CVS access be workign again, BUT ALSO, nib files will be properly commited (see CVS instuctions) and the sources will be up to date with OpenAG 1.0
Rushed to enter in ADC Student design awards, 1.0 is here! Huge list of feature additions and bug fixes can be found at http://homepage.mac.com/macdomeeu/dev/current/openag/
OpenAG 1.0PR2 (cvs 1.22) was released this evening. This is the second official public release, and is a vast improvement on it's predecessor. The source is still a little laging on sourceforge, but I hope to bring it up to date with my respository tomorrow. You can grab the latest binary at: http://homepage.mac.com/macdomeeu/dev/current/openag/
devtest5 (cvs 1.21/22) has been posted in binary form at: http://homepage.mac.com/macdomeeu/dev/current/openag/devtest5.tar.gz Source will be uploaded to the CVS tree ASAP, waiting to resolve small cvs problems...
Sources were finally submitted to sourceforge.net yesterday. Still pending import by an admin. Also, devtest4 was released as well, and is available for download from: http://homepage.mac.com/macdomeeu/dev/current/openag/devtest4.tar.gz
