Double-clicking a table edits the data within the table. The top left icon in the menus shows "Edit", with another underneath it for "Datasheet".

This is normal, you have opened the datasheet, so the button displays "edit", if you click on this button, you close the datasheet and go to editing the table structure, the button display " open" if you click on this button, you return to the beginning of this text, etc...
