A new version of NORS has been released. Many small detail changes have been implemented with additional handlers for accelerometer (requires mobile sensor API) and location as well as support for the AliveTech heart monitor.

The demo server has seen some simplification, removing the HTML creation and adding MySQL support!!

A new version of NORS has been released!

Please note that there is only a single release for the NORS software now. Hence, server and middleware are included in the same package, but with different license agreements (LGPL for the middleware, GPL for the demo server) - so please note the license notes in the package.

NORS is a platform for mobile-centric wireless sensing, according to the Nokia Remote Sensing Architecture (N-RSA), as defined in the given specifications. The LPGL licensed middleware part runs on Java-enabled phones. More at http://dalore.net/DOT

The contact email for NORS has changed. It is now dot@dirk-trossen.de since I have left Nokia Research as of March 31st.

Information can now be found under the documentation tab of NORS on how to sign the SymbianServer for your IMEI!

A new version has been uploaded with additional handlers, stability improvements, GUI refinements and the addition of a certificate for signing midlets. The documentation package has been updated accordingly.

Stay tuned for a revised V1.01 version of NORS to be uploaded soon! Changes will include:
- Bugfixes are included for certain handlers, a discovered memory leak, and stability.
- New handlers are added for audio sampling and positioning (based on WLAN)
- Includes native Symbian server for low level information
- Java Signed (if certificate will arrive soon), so more security popups!

The NORS documentation has now been packaged for download. All documents are included as PDFs for installation, programming, and interface specifications.

NORS has a built-in interface for low-level Symbian programs. This can be used to implement necessary functionality on Symbian level while still re-using the NORS platform. A document that describes the interface is available in the documentation package.

The NOkia Remote Sensing (NORS) platform has been released for open source!

This is the first release, intended to create a community of developers and users for mobile-centric wireless sensing.
