I have a S7-300 PLCSim that I want to communicate to a WinCC Runtime on a Siemens IPC. The program, PLCSim, and nettoplcsim is on a W10 VM. I have the IP for the VM set as the IP of my PLC. I can ping the VM from the IPC and vice versa. I able to see both the VM Ethernet adapter and the PLCSim in the Station menu of nettoplcsim. That's about as far as I can get. I have disabled the firewall on my VM and IPC, and have used telnet to check if port 102 is open.

I am still not able to see any kind of communication or visual feedback between the IPC Runtime and PLCSim. I just want to be able to run final simulations with the HMI hardware before commissioning, instead of just using a runtime on TIA Portal. I have a feeling that I may be overlooking a small yet crucial detail. Could anyone help with this? Is it even possible to use NetToPLCSim with WinCC on an IPC ? There has to be a way to figure it out.

    The software I have is:

    • VMWare Workstation 16 Player
o Bridged connection to my base machines LAN Card.
    • TIA Portal V13 SP2 Update 4
    • WinCC Runtime Advanced V13
      o on Siemens IPC627E
    • PLCSim V5.4 (from TIA Portal)
      o I am simulating a S7 317-2EK14 PLC
    • NetToPLCSim V 1.2.5.0

    Thank you for your help.

The combination should work. Have you set the PG/PC interface on the IPC for S7ONLINE to the network adapter which has the connection to the Plc?

I can't believe didn't think to even check that. I thought it had I already configured it when setting it up. After a quick restart, I'm able to see the HMI talking with the PLC. I knew it had to be something simple!

I will post an update if any other nettoplcsim-IPC issues show up.

      Thanks for your help!
