NeoJournal - The New Journal / News: Recent posts

Well, it's finally here! NeoJournal Beta 3 is now released. Plenty of new features, a bit of a GUI change, and plenty of fixes under the hood.

Some of the highlights to enjoy...
- Chapters let you organise things by heading and sort them the way you want
- Notebook gives you somewhere to write down everything that's not a Journal entry.
- Spell Checking lets you make sure your Journal isn't a spelling disaster
- Printing lets you keep hard copies of your important text
- A new item editing GUI makes things more consistent (and hopefully more reliable)

I've got a week off, and perhaps more unless some more work comes up, so I'm taking some time to get cracking on Beta 3 again. My current targets for this release are
- A new, more consistent GUI for editing items
- Chapters that allow you to sort items under headings in a neat little drag-and-drop tree
- A Notebook that gives you a place to put stuff that doesn't have a specific date attached to it
- Printing for most items
- Lots of bug fixes and tweaks to make NeoJournal friendlier... read more

I'm not sure how long Beta 3 is going to take to finish. I've recently gotten a job that's taking up a lot of my time, and between that and Uni, I don't have much to spare for working on NeoJournal. It also doesn't help that I don't have much desire to come home and code after spending the day coding at work!

So just be patient, and I will slowly get things done. I have not forgotten about NeoJournal, and I do intend to keep working on it!

Hi all,

The new beta version of NeoJournal is available now. Lots and lots of changes in Beta 2, most visibly in the formatting department. Plenty of bug-fixes and feature additions though, including a recycle bin, privacy mode, drag and drop, configuration options and much more!

Some known bugs at this stage (mostly cosmetic):
- Drawing bug on the Full Search window
- The attachment/notes list is not updated when items are sent to the recycle bin
- The preview window background colour changes to "disabled" for some reason, even with editable pages... read more

Just a quick update on the next Beta release.

Most of the major points are complete now, like the configuration dialogs, text formatting, drag-drop, etc. All that's left are a few finishing touches, and it should be ready for testing by the end of the month (or sooner!)

Here is a progress update on the Beta 2 release.

The drag-drop and keyboard shortcuts are now completed, and I'm working on a few new features that people may like, such as:
- A Recycle Bin in case you delete an entry by mistake
- Private entries and categories that are hidden from prying eyes by default
- An Item Properties window similar to the familiar Windows Explorer

Due to a fairly major bug in 1.1 which is entirely my fault, I've released a 1.2 which fixes it. If you recently downloaded 1.1, you are encouraged to get 1.2 so you can create new Journals again!

An updated Beta 1 of NeoJournal has been released. Included are a lot of bug fixes, backup functionality, some basic journal views and a few new icons.
