Jonathan, Thanks for your great suggestion. I found the mysql++ was better than mysqlcppapi, the later also has Unicode problem when using it.

It's throwing an exception because of an error executing the query.
You need to catch the exception to find out what the error is.
You should consider using mysql++ instead of mysqlcppapi.
