After about two years of silence, this project is still being used and downloaded on a daily basis... Although I have not made any releases recently, I have been tinkering with the code off and on. Many changes have been made and are being tested now in a limited release alpha (email me if you want in). MPEG Database 1.6 now conforms to the strict http://www.w3.org/ (W3C -- World Wide Web Consortium) standards:

Interface Facelift: as part of the W3C conformance updates the admin pages fot a face lift and everything will display more reliably.
Modified Database Cleanup to also parse the arrays prior to database generation

Sorry about the delay but life has a way of throwing you a few curves

After six months of inactivity (My 'real' job has had me flying around the country) development will continue. My life is one again becoming stable enough to denticate a limited amount of tome to development. Version 1.5 is very near completion and will be out soon (No delivery dates this time) Following version 1.5's release I will have two additional development objectives.

1. Convert the database builder portion into a C/C++ standalone executable.
2. Integrate ID3 Version2 tags (Common) into functinality. ... read more

Version 1.5 Has everything 1.2 has as well as an ID3v1 Decoder and a HTML front end for useage. It uses cookies with an expiration of 10 years so you only have to enter your info once.

expect the first public beta in under a week.

Try searching for floyd or sublime with the directory structure option checked.

1.2 Beta 1 is coming - additions include:
VBR (Variable BitRate) support
Database cleanup function to remove unwanted entries (playlists for example) from database
Split class (Added database functions to it's own 'suppoting' class to further increase the modularity of the code'. All previous calls/scripts will not need to be changed as this in handled in the codebase
Reworked majority of base code for increased speed and accuracy...
detects majority of false framesyncs
Detects id3 version 1 and 2 and automaticly skips to position in file where first framesync should occur...
Reduced search for framesync from 20K to 10K after the above ID3v2 Header Skip
Modified table design
Bitrate Field larger now
Added 'Type' field that distingushes between file and dir enteries in database
Track_length now unsigned bigint... see below
Updated searchengine to utilize type field for increased accuracy and speed in large searches.

1.0 Final is available and working with useable instalation info... I let this project go for a while after getting no user input but I will be watching it more closely now

My apologies about the missing default.css file. my entire site uses this file and I forgot that this project was using it.

Also, Corrected the ID3 Detection feature

With this revision in place I feel that the package should work properly now since default.css was included... Please view the changelog for other minor fixes

http://mpeg-database.sourceforge.net is now online with a 'test drive' of the search engine available but almost no other content... Give it a try and tell all your friends about it...

1.0 Beta 1 Released: We believe it is production stable however we would like the puclic to try it and locate any possible problems

The SourceForge Site for MPEG_Database has been created. Documentation and distributions are being written and compiled. The initial release should be published by 11/19/2001.
