The next release should be out soon, I've added better scripting, a level editor and better support for a wide range of phones. The demo works great and looks awesome on my new RAZR phone. I might make a webpage for the game after this, but until then sheck out the screenshots.
I'm starting to work on this project again. A lot more experience shows a number of problems inherent in the design of this simple little program. I've also started using the sourceforge CVS server, I'm more of a SVN man myself, but I think it will be interesting to get experience with CVS.
Id like to finish up the next release, but motorola wont give me developer status so I can test out the network code on my phone. They say they want to encourage developers, but they control the distribution of the programs onto their phones so anally, that they might kill any market that might even have a chance of springing up.
The first release contains the source code and a demo of the finished compiled binaries. There is a standard J2ME filled jar + .jad file along with a palm app .prc file.
The prog isnt too impressive right now, this release is mostly to show that it can be done. Compared to the hype level that sun and others have been pushing on this J2ME stuff, the amount of source-code available is pitiful. Most people dont even know that J2ME exists and are even more surprised to find out that java programming can be done on these devices. Hopefully some others can pick up on other projects like this after seeing something like this in motion.
