Thanks to some help ("contributors" page is in the works), quite a few things have changed, and hopefully another version (alpha 3 most likely, though it might be ready for beta) will be out shortly. Still yet to fix the web pages, but I'll work on it. I've also received requests to support encrypted file sharing, so will look into using blowfish for that.
Assuming I get around to putting in encryption, it will break the existing method, which means previous version won't work - but it'll help with fixing a few things which should change anyway. Stay tuned!
Alpha 2 of mirvChat MkIV has been released, with a few new features such as a proper download queue, upload limits, timestamping, and most importantly an error log (very basic one). So if it crashes on people, send that log to me. A beta version isn't far off now, just needs entire directory downloads and a few bug fixes to reach that stage.
mirvChat, an ip-multicast based chat program with some basic file sharing capabilities, has its first alpha release. Most of it should work (chat area, messaging, file sharing) though there are expected to be a large number of bugs (especially with file sharing) - available now at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=144614&package_id=159003.
