The final release of the 0.2 series and of 2008 is out. Next milestone will be the 0.3 release. Thanks for all the great work this year and looking forward to an exciting 2009.
George
After a very gray spring and June the sun is finally shining in Victoria. A lot of interesting projects related to Marsyas are happening and the mailing lists have been very active. By the end of the summer we plan to go to 0.3 version. We have been saving that change for something major but I decided to go ahead so that I manage to see version 1.0 before I retire :-). Have fun ....
Happy new year to everyone,
2007 was a great year for Marsyas to a large extent thanks to the
amazing
contributions from many of you. Being a free and open source software
framework
we need all the help you can get from our community of developers and
users and every question no matter how small in the developer or users
mailing
lists help us improve Marsyas. Thank you for your patience and support.... read more
Hi everyone and best wishes for a happy new year. 2007 was a great year for Marsyas with a lot of new code added, documentation written and much more. Thanks to all of you for helping out. Subversion has made us really lazy with releases but I intend to release at least once a month next year. The last release of 2007 is 0.2.13 and we are already moving towards 0.2.14 in January 2008.
happy holidays,
George
"Mao" release: Marsyas is Actually Organized! (see release notes for more info)
Hi everyone, we finally managed to put together a release. There has been a lot of work in the past few months but we somehow kept using the svn repository and never bothered creating a relasease. Some of the highlights: much improved documentation (thanks to Graham), overall change in directory structure (thanks to Gustavo) and many others. Have fun, George
Hi everyone,
the last two months have been incredibly productive with the help of Gustavo and
Luis (the port. invasion team) who unfortunately have left Victoria and returned to Portugal. They will keep contributing. The new release has significant changes related to the MarControlPointer mechanism that result in much more efficient handling of controls. In addition it contains peakClustering a voice separation algorithm based on Normalized Cuts. ... read more
Congratulations to Luis Gustavo Martins a member
of the portugese invasion team for committing
the 400 subversion release. Looking forward to
subversion release 1000
This new release includes support for both VisualStudio 2003 and 2005 and various incremental improvements. The next release 0.2.10 will contain a backward compatible but much faster control mechanism designed by Luis and Gustavo who are visiting me from Portugal.
Take care,
George Tzanetakis
Hi everyone, the new release should compile under all usual OSes (Linux, OS X and Windows (Cygwin and Visual Studio) as well as a new configuration OS X(Intel). A new logging system (hence mrsLog) has been implemented. Different levels of logging messages can be enabled/disabled in configuration and a single log file is used. Various other small bugs and fixes.
Enjoy, George
New release marsyas-0.2.2.tar.gz (speedy) is out. As the name implies this release is noticably faster in audio processing than the previous one. Enjoy
This release should compile without problems under
Linux, OS X, Windows (cygwin and Visual Studio). It also
includes support for MIDI through RtMidi and various
other bug fixes and enhancements.
Hi everyone, a new release incorporating bug fixes/additions and changes resulting for our participation at the MIREX evaluation exchange 2005 has been posted.
In addition the first attempts to a generalized approach
to GUI construction for Marsyas called Musescape are posted. Musescape is still under heavy construction/design.
Any feedback is more than welcome.
George
This release is a major improvement. Lots of new stuff so please start using it. Fixed bugs with .wav file reading in OS X and endianness problems, Visual Studio port updated, add ZeroRClassifier, fixed bug with Collection reading, added some documentation, added server support for Java Editor GUI, added optional qt patch builder and phasevocoder interfaces, FM synthesis and many more.
I just finished adding support for Visual Studio > 7 for marsyas-0.2. Hopefully that will entice people to switch
to version 0.2. I still haven't fully tested things just compiled
and made sure that sfplay with soundfile output works.
More to come soon.
After two crazy months of starting my new job in Victoria I now have a few cycles to spare for Marsyas. I am especially exited about the new version 0.2 which I hope to get up to speed with the old one by the summer. Right now it has a phasevocoder and a music/speech classifiers as examples. I just added a new release as well as updated the cvs archive with the most recent code. I will try to be more active with using CVS to track new changes/bugs. On the top of my list is porting to OS X and Windows the new version. ... read more

I am back and actively working on both marsyas-0.1 and
marsyas-0.2 so feel to send me emails with any
problems you might have. Both versions should be sort
of working so if they don't let me know.

I will be away in Greece for two weeks.
I will not be reading email or accessing the web
much so things will be quite static. Be sure to
come back after September 10 there will be much
more activity.
Best regards,
George
I will be away for two weeks visiting family in Greece.
I will
Just started using CVS. Everything seems to be working
fine. Must email other users of Marsyas as well as
add new version 0.2
I have CVS, the first relase, mailing lists and web page.
All set up. I need to email previous users of Marsyas
about the new location.
