Linux boxes won't allow non-root programs to listen on
ports below 1024.
Since your program puts up a GUI, I guess you intend to
let users run it from their desktop (vs. running it
automatically in the background) ; in this case, it
will be hard to make it work on Linux since ports 110
(POP) and 25 (SMTP) are not allowed.
One easy way to overcome this is to use special,
non-standard ports for local POP/SMTP servers.
