Hi Michael. Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately I can't reproduce this at all. I can type any book name or abbrevation in the reference box with or without a number in front as long as I type the first letter of the book name with upper case. If no one else responds here I will write this to the Sword list and see if someone else can reproduce this. The thing is, that we only pass the reference that is typed further to the Sword library that delivers the text to it. Here's an update that might shed light on the problem. If I go to the book first using the simple navigation boxes, for instance, click drop-down box, manually select "Luke", then I can use the reference box, i.e. Luke 3, Luke 9:1, etc. If I then leave Luke, I still can't type "Luke x" in the reference box and have to navigate there using the drop down, then I can type references in Luke again all day long. This works for any book. Also, I've discovered the reason 1Sam - 2Chron worked is that ANY book that starts with a number works, not just those OT books. So, 1 & 2Cor, 1 & 2Tim, 1-3John etc., all work. It's only the books without a number in front that don't. And I tried using a bogus "1Romans" to see if it mattered, but it didn't; still fails. .m. > From: Manfred Bergmann <man...@gm...> > Reply-To: <mac...@li...> > Date: Mon, 26 May 2008 22:55:29 +0200 > To: Michael Cox <mi...@co...> > Cc: <mac...@li...> > Subject: Re: [Macsword-user] reference entry bug > > Can you give an example of what exactly you type and where. > In the reference text field or the bible book combo box? > Which is your main language? > > If a key is not recognized it takes the last book which is Revelation > of John. > It is written by John so that's why I guess it is called like that. > > > Regards, > Manfred > > > Am 26.05.2008 um 19:14 schrieb Michael Cox: > >> I tried ESV, KJV and ASV... same thing. >> >> .m. >> >> >>> From: Manfred Bergmann <man...@gm...> >>> Date: Mon, 26 May 2008 13:32:21 +0200 >>> To: Michael Cox <mi...@co...> >>> Cc: <mac...@li...> >>> Subject: Re: [Macsword-user] reference entry bug >>> >>> Hi. >>> >>> Hmm. Hi. There is no version 1.3.9. The latest is 1.3.5. No screenshot attached. Which lexicons are you having problems with? Safari 3.1.1 intruduced something different in CSS style URL including so we had to rework that to make CSS work at all. There might be problems with custom CSS. Can you give me your style sheet then I will look into it. Please make sure which version you are using. Version 1.3.2 to 1.3.3 had problems with locales and these version are displaying the book names in the second system language instead of the first (if the first is english). Hey, I just moved from mac sword 1.2.1 to 1.3.9 and there are some unusual things happening. The CSS stuff isn't working quite right (I can't use my own style sheets, nor can I change the appearance with the preferences), and I get a bunch of CSS code displayed at the top of each page. Furthermore, the book names are displayed in Hebrew, and my Hebrew is such that I have to sound out all of the names before I can figure out what the book is. Also, this version doesn't give me access to some of the lexicons I had downloaded for the previous version. I'm not too thrilled about all of this. I tried erasing my old preferences folder and rebooting, but it's the same. Going back to 1.2.1 until someone can help me figure this stuff out. PS. I attached a screen-shot to show what I'm talking about. There is a pic of normal operation on 1.2.1 below, and a pic of 1.3.9 on top. |

Do you really write "Luke" with capital 'L'? I tried it and get what you are saying when entering 'luke' with lower case 'l'. The same goes for Mathew. 'Mt' work but 'mt' not. Anyway, I will look into that. I think also lower case letters should work. It's the reference text field where you can enter things like "Luke 3:1" or even just "Luke", then hit enter. It worked before I updated to 1.3.5. Can you give an example of what exactly you type and where. In the reference text field or the bible book combo box? Which is your main language? If a key is not recognized it takes the last book which is Revelation of John. It is written by John so that's why I guess it is called like that. Has a bug in the reference entry box of 1.3.5 been reported already? I can only enter ³1Sam² through ³2Chron² and get the text. Anything from Ruth back and Ezra forward results in the simple navigation box showing ³Revelation of John² (which should actually be Revelation of Jesus, but I digress...) chapter 1, but the text isn¹t displayed. Manual selection through the simple navigation boxes seems to work. Michael |

Hi. I know this problem and thought it was fixed since version 1.3.3 or 1.3.4. The interface language depends on your system language settings. The first setting should be used for MacSword. I know there was a bug (which is fixed) that the second language was used instead of the first when english was the first one. Try version 1.3.5 and see if your problem is fixed. Every time I open a new MacSword browser, it switches back to the usual, unbroken line style, though the checkbox in the Preference panel to default to one line is still checked. Any ideas? I just installed the new beta to try to fix it, and it caused even more problems. Also, typing book and chapter names and numbers into the drop-down boxes to navigate no longer works; it keeps going to Revelation 1. Am I doing something wrong? It just started doing that with the new beta. Vince |
