    Hello everyone,

hopefully this forum is still active, since Locate32 is pretty much dated by now.
Anyway; I've used Locate32 for years know and couldn't basically be any happier about it. There's just this one error which would occur randomly. I have set up Locate32 to do a scheduled update daily.
From time to time however, i get an error message saying

"Cannot write to database file "C:\xyz.dbs"

    as a result of updating.
I would have to make an all new dbs-file everytime this happens, disabeling and re-enabeling the old file won't do.
Some years ago I had come across a fix to this; I only can't really remember what had to be done.
If I'm not mistaken it had to do with the missing language files for the help menu.

Can anybody confirm on this or has any other way to solve this issue ?

    Thanks in advance,

    palomino

Is it really "C:\xyz.dbs" or was it just an example? If it is, then the problem is that Locate32 cannot write to the system root (C:) without Administrator rights. You shuold change it to a location which is writable (Go to Settings -> Database -> click the database and Edit). Usually location under user folder is more safe and preferable.

Wow, that was a quick reply !
However; this error also occurs when I leave the default file-path in effect.
I can't figure what could cause it ?
Up here I never had to run Locate32 as admin, nor did I have to change any rights for any folders.
The error may occur just randomly e.g. after a few days, weeks or even months after having processed it's nightly update-routine w/o any problem.

I'm really a bit clueless, also I can't find the info about this languuage files for the help menu, which I faintly remember to be responsible for this very particular error.

I have no idea eather. Could there be another program like virus scanner locking the file for a second just before Locate32 tries to update the file?
