I've had a few people interested in building and using the i386 Bookworm version of Lilidog. This guide should allow you to get fully set up with the i386 Bookworm version. I've also included the new Waybar folder, but the script should pick up the old configuration, and add any missing values. Hi sleekmason, Is there any way to make the sizing of items dynamic? What I'm finding is that some of the items take a lot of horizontal space and if I have enough open windows, everything gets pushed to the right with icons getting pushed off of the screen. Thanks for all your hard work on this!

FWIW, Debian testing has labwc 0.9.3. Not the latest release but close. I'm happy with having one or the other, Super + space works for me.

So the module built correctly and everything seemed good to go? This was as far as I could go on my setup, making sure the module would build, but I don't have your card to work with, so what I can do is offer a couple suggestions moving forward. Any work at this point will need to come from your system. First, I would attempt to figure the rest of what is needed out myself, which shouldn't be too hard but can be daunting if it gets to complex. Good evening sleekmason, So I reinstalled it via usb thumbdrive, then copy-and-paste that big chunk of command on command console. After some minutes, everything went well with no conflict messages. It asked me to reboot, but then I got greeted with the similar error (see attached pix that I took just now). I also tried the recovery mode but same problem. Cool. I'm glad it serves! I tried the Waybar wtype fix in a live session, and for whatever reason, it won't let go of the keys, making every button on the bar into the menu until a right-click on the menu is performed. So far, I'm not coming up with the solution there. The next version of labwc should allow for it. This version is apparently missing labwcctl, which would make this method possible. I may look into building the latest stable version of labwc, as the one in Trixie is apparently missing...

I have just 1 other question - how do u make it remember the desktop resolution ? like it defaulted to 4K but at 60hz (60hz makes me dizzy). So I lowered the resolution to 1920x1080 because it shows 120hz. Good question! I suppose the first think I would look at would be to see if what we have above works for you, and then if so, if nvidia-settings takes care of that somehow, or if it's even necessary with the new driver. if not, then look in the System Setting from the Configuration menu for the...

I know exactly what you are talking about. It throws an extra step in there that can be aggravating. Thank you for bringing it up. I'll need to see if the empty space can be utilized for clicks, but I'm guessing not. Well, we can at least make it better! It looks like with Waybar, we can use wtype to create a button action for the Labwc menu. So probably just make the house icon menu button to use Labwc, and also add a separate keybind, super + space to open the menu as well from anywhere in Labwc....

Nice! :) I just learned a whole bunch here as well, and it sounds like you maybe did some of the same footwork I did to debug. My thinking brought me initially to trying 'qt6ct' to change the theme, which it will, but not those four buttons in Vorta. (just the ones I chose to debug) I then looked at using QSS code to fix the #color, but that was a no go as well. All the other buttons would change. Is it possible to right click on an empty space on waybar or use the super key to display the menu? It would be a nice touch because if applications are maximized, the only way is to minimize apps to reveal some desktop real estate.

Installed TeXstudio from testing and the updated qt6 packages appears to have fixed this! And updated qt6 dependencies also fixed the vorta buttons!

The problem is even worse for TeXstudio. The menu bar is un-navigable. Fortunately, I rarely use the menu bar.

I use vorta for backups to my NAS and the GUI's buttons appear as blank white squares. I guess that this is an Xwayland incompatibility since it displays fine on other OSes. Oddly, it displays fine on Gnome which has been Wayland for quite some time now. Any suggestions for workarounds to fix this? Relatedly, it is supposed to autostart but it is not. Does labwc check the .config/autostart folder or do I need to add it to .config/labwc/autostart script? Thanks!

No worries! It looks like removing or blacklisting the Nouveau driver would be the solution if there are conflicts after reboot. Since you are working from a new install, you could reinstall again doing the same process, this time blacklisting the Nouveau driver before rebooting and making sure any steps needed are included... My bad, i'm new to this one also, I forgot to login (that's me - Audi Seuss). Anyways, I did installed the NVIDIA driver using the command you posted above. Then after some minutes after the installation completed, it says something nouveau conflicting something, then it suggested me to reboot. I clicked the [ok] button then rebooted. And upon rebooting, I got that message (see the above screenshot) and it stopped right there. I also tried to boot to [recovery mode] but it also failed (can't get...

Oh hi skeekmason, thanks for such a quick reply. I'm not very good with linux but i downloaded the "Waydog-Trixie-26.02.06-amd64.hybrid.iso" to thumbdrive, then install to my desktop PC. After installation, it rebooted just fine. Then I logged-in, and noticed 3840x2160 @60hz resolution which is nice. Then I started exploring and even installed Brave browser, but after some minutes, it log me out back to the login screen. I also tried to change resolution to 1920x1080 @120hz and it works great !!!!...

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully we can get it figured out, or someone else has already dealt with the same issue and can give us some insight. One possible cause I can see could be the graphics driver. A few questions may help to narrow it down: Are you still using the default nouveau driver? Have you enabled Picom (transparency)? Have you installed a custom kernel or other software along those lines? After it happens again, post the output of: journalctl -b -1 -p 3 We should see any critical errors...

Good evening, I have tested the Lilidog Trixie LIVE and liked it so I installed it on my desktop 3rd hard disks (the full 500GB). However it kept logging out back to the main login screen after several minutes. Please help ! My PC spec is good (i7-37000k, GTX 3080, 32 GB ram). THANKS !

Make sure the script is in your $PATH, somewhere, like ~/bin, and making sure to 'reconfigure' labwc, either through the menu or through 'super + r' , or else the new keybind won't be registered. Will give it a go. Strangely, all the keybinds stopped working for some reason. I did make some changes to rc.xml through the labwc config application and in looking at the diffs, some blank lines were removed and extraneous spaces but other than that, only the icon theme was changed.

Awesome! Looks like the screen timeout. This is just meant to protect your monitor by shutting the display off after ten minutes. To disable it for Openbox, add to your ~/.config/openbox/autostart somewhere near the top: xset s off xset -dpms Then logout and back in, use 'xset -q' to check the timeout amount, and/or wait 15 minutes or so. Ah, okay, suspend then, and not just the display screen going blank. We need to first see if it is even mate-power-manager causing the issue. One of the easiest ways to check would be to: killall mate-power-manager and wait 15 minutes or so to see if the issue is from mate-power-manager. The Niri compositor is available through the Waydog installers. This is a good place to post items about Niri. At any time, for either Niri or Wayfire, one can simply reinstall from the installers to have the latest configuration files if any changes are made. A backup will be made of your old configuration files in case you have made changes you would like to keep. The warning itself is of no consequence and can be ignored, but should be suppressed anyway as it is unsightly. I'll also be putting out at least one more core update here in a few days to cover the current iteration, and will make sure this fix is added if I can suppress the line. Waydog update 26.01.17 Live username = 'user' - Live password = 'live' Added Wmenu, a Dmenu replacement for Wayland based systems. Wmenu for Waydog starts with a wrapper script (wdmenu) to filter out cruft, open with terminal where applicable, and show user scripts in ~/bin and ~/.local/bin. Use 'super +F3' to activate. The waypicker script iteration of 26.01.10 has issues re-initializing in Wayfire when 'Repick' is chosen. This version fixes that issue. New release 26.01.10 for Lilidog, Beardog, and Waydog! Live username = 'user' - Live password = 'live'. Lots of changes all around, with Lilidog and Beardog properly updated, and further development of Waydog with nifty new features. Lilidog/Beardog: Debian point release 13.3 Removed the sourcechanger script using net-select from the welcome script. New release 25.12.26 Live username = 'user' - Live password = 'live'. Added missing welcome message to Sway on initial login. Added Sway keybinds. 'super +F1' This pulls up a terminal list of every keybind in sway. Rather useful. Fixed an issue with initial login in Sway not running the setup script. In order to add transparency to Waybar, open ~/.config/waybar/style.css and change line 6 from: @define-color base #18252B; to: @define-color base rgba(24, 37, 43, 0.8); /* Allows for transparency. Change the fourth value. Currently set to 20% */ Change the fourth value to whatever transparency amount you like. As shown in the comment, '0.8' for the fourth value = 20% transparency. This method can also be used with specific modules if desired.
